Europe Afterthoughts

Looking back on the past 3 weeks has made me feel like I've been on a trial run of The Amazing Race, but without the stress. We went to 11 cities (Paris, Nice, Cannes, Monaco, Milan, Florence, Venice, Pisa, Rome, Naples, Pompeii) and 2 countries (France, Italy), covering quite a distance! While the trains and metros were easy to navigate, we still had to stay on the ball in terms of making sure that we got through each city without a hitch. Thank goodness for my wonderful compass and nifty highligher!

In terms of food, I still think that what we can get in the United States is at least comparable or even better. I can no longer look at baguettes, paninis, crepes, pizza, or pasta the same way. And Im swearing off carbs for the next few weeks b/c that's all we've been eating. Fortunately, all the walking and moving around really helped to keep us from turning into little pudge balls.

Since I had a lot of down time, I read so many books while I was on my trip. I finished On Call, Gone Baby Gone, Lovely Bones, Eat Pray Love, and The Other Boleyn Girl. I also attempted Predator and Man who Mistook Wife for a Hat, but I started to get bored of reading at this point.

When I look back on all of the places we visited, this is my final ranking of cities:
-Rome
-Pompeii
-Venice
-French Riviera
-Pisa
-Paris
-Florence
-Milan

THINGS I LEARNED WHILE IN EUROPE:
-French people suck
-The US dollar is shit, the Euro is the shit
-Italy is waaay better than France
-It is ok to have gelato as a meal (and every day)
-You can never pack lightly enough
-Snacks are essential (yay fruit by the foot)
-I have no inside voice (I think I already knew this though)
-French people suck
-Don't buy a lot of glass...or wine...or lemoncielo
-Wine is cheaper than water or soda
-There is truly no place like home
-French people suck
