I made it to Russia, our previous Cold War pal. The LA to Atlanta flight was no problem. As for the Moscow flight there certainly was a little bit of a scare hence the "The Golden Ticket" like out of the Charlie and the Chocalate Factory. I got to the terminal and got a ticket business class. I was stoked, ecstatic, like a fly in a fresh elephant dung. Even texted to my mom to brag. But then right before boarding I heard my name called... I had to give the ticket back due to them might be having weight problems and they will call if there is still room on the flight. So, much like Charlie when he thought the last ticket was taken I sulked in my chair, thoughts rushing that I might have to spend a day in Atlanta, Georgia. If that is the case I would get drunk and hit up a Waffle House.

So, time went by and people were boarding, then my name was called again, at this point I lowered my expectations and would even sit in the compartments w/ pets if that's what it took to get aboard the flight. But to my relief it was a business class ticket. Making this short, the flight was sweet, lots of good wine and got a good night rest on the flight. I was Charlie flying away in the cool glass elevator at the end...

Get to Moscow, perfect time and the customs goes through quick, I see a taxi driver w/ my name and we are off to my hotel. I had a pretty cool taxi driver and we talked a little bit, he spoke decent english and it was good time to practice my Russian.

Hotel same thing, no prob and then met my tour guide after taking a quick shower and watching some Russky tv. It was raining and overcast, which is quite common for this time of year. We hit up the Kremlin, Red Square, a Monastery and the church of Ascension I believe. I was still a little out of it, since by the time I got to the hotel i had about 2 hours to get my body oriented to the fact I'm on the other side of the world...

Anyways, it's in the morning and heading out to the Arbat district to grab me some breakfast and will spend today just wondering around w/ a loose agenda, also to hopefully contact a person a friend gave me information about.

Take care everyone, and will post before I'm off to Moscow if got time.

your comrade,

Mike
