Well my friends....today is my last day in Singapore! 😞 It has gone so unbelievably fast and i've had the best time here too!!
I'll start by just telling you about the show last night....it was rather the spectacle with lotts and lotts of special effects and some questionable acting!!hehe Everyone who is an actor over here seems to use unneccessary arm actions and general movement - even on the tv programmes!! I guess the seating area was quite big so they needed to up the actions a little....try to imagine the tweenies or some other kids programme where they over exaggerate everything and you should get the idea!! lol...It was most definately a show aimed at kids, and the storyline was basic, but I did have a really good time and the 'multi-million dollar' special effects were truely spectacular!! Fire puffs, special lighting complemented by spraying water and a firework finish....it was definately worth seeing! The music was really magical too...and most of the songs were sung in languages that were not English (not sure what they actually were, but i'm guessing an aray of the native languages of the area!) I think that this added to the magicalness as they were different to what you usually hear back in the UK!!hehe
OK, so onto today....I decided that I would make the most of my last day here and go down to Orchard Road and have a walk along it. It wasn't really anything special.....AMAZING if you want to do some shopping, but the majority of the shops were places that you would find in the UK - M&S, Topshop, Starbucks, etc.... and there was a MacDonald's practically every 50 metres!!! There were some more traditional places to look at, and I found this magical shop called Bread Talk!! Basically, they make loads of different and inventive types of 1 person sized bread (as well as bigger loaves) When I stumbled across it it was lunch time so I thought i'd get one...it was called Squabble Bubble (good name eh?!) it had yam and pumpkin inside it with a walnut on the top....was absolutely scrumptious!!! :D
Next, bored of Orchard Road (only because I didn't want to shop and that's basically all there was to do though!) I got the MRT to Clarke Quay which is by the river (surprise surprise :P). I was going to take a river tour, but then I realised how short a walk it was to the Esplanade and decided to walk instead (save some dosh for the cab ride to the airport!) There were some nice statues along the river and the walk was nice and peaceful 😊 When I got to the Esplanade two men tried to sell me my fortune, and I almost conceded to their charms but decided not to in the end!! The Esplanade was an interesting structure...verrrry big!! I could also see the statue of the Merlion across the river and so put my camera on extra zoom and took a little picci! 😊
I then decided it was time to go back to the hostel as I was tired and wanted to make sure I was ready for my departure from this WONDERFUL City!!! Caught the MRT back and walked to the Hostel. Dad, I so almost bought a Durian (the stinky fruit), but it smells sooooooo bad I just couldn't!! maybe if they have them in Bali i may succumb to it and give it a go tho! :P I didn't get any silk either as I only got your message a minute ago...but again Bali beckons me!!hehe
If you are also viewing my photos on facebookywook you may see that I enjoy taking pictures of the artwork in the MRT stations....it's just soooooooooo pretty and nice to have in a station....methinks the UK should follow in Singapore's steps! It's really clean and bright too - ooo and air conditioned!!! Come on UK get your act together already!!!hehe
Sooooo....I guess that was my day people....now i'm whiling away the hours until I get my taxi and then flight to Bali at the Hostel in the airconditioned dryness!! (it's thundering at the moment so I hope my flight isn't delayed :S ahhh)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for you're lovely messages and comments...it's good to hear of news from you guys and I will try to reply, but I always seem to run out of time!! So please take this as a mass relply for the meantime!! :P
Love you all squillions and gagillions
The next time you hear from me I will be in Kuta, Bali, Indonesia....so until then...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
