We drove in a Wickedly Orange way (back to map reading since we've no GPS maps for Oz!) to Meadowbank, a ferry wharf along the Parramatta River, and caught the Rivercat to heart of Sydney Harbour, sailing under the Harbour Bridge to Circular Quay.
Had a look see around The Rocks district, near the Quay, where they have a weekend market selling all sorts of Aussie fayre - including roo jerky and skins! Forwent the roo jerky and had lush pastries in a fancy
patisserie instead.
Ventured over to the Harbour Bridge Pilot Lookout but decided not to part with the best part of $20 dollars to climb the 200 steps to the top, satisfied with the free view of the harbour and Opera House from the bridge. Countless people were parting with the best part of $200 to take part in
The Bridge Climb, donning very fetching grey jumpsuits and a harness to and scale the heights of the Harbour Bridge.
Had a wander around the outside of the Opera House, and mingled with the Gucci set around the Opera Bar, sipping a cool ($10!) beer with Harbour views.
And thankfully, our delightfully orange Wicked van was still
there when we got off the ferry at Meadowbank...
Upward and onward tomorrow, heading up the eastern seaboard to continue our Aussie pilgrimage...
