Day 10 - Paihia

Picked a fantastic day for our cruise as its sunny and hot. Caught the boat at 10am and began our trip by delivering mail to the different islands. It is absolutely beautiful and the water is crystal clear. For lunch we stopped off on an island called Urupakapaka which has about 5 small cottages to rent and us so pretty isolated. It was amazing and the water is so warm. While there we went on a glass bottomed boat out to the reef and watched the fish get fed. In the afternoon we carried on with our cruise along the coast up towards Cape Brett and the hole in the rock which we sailed through - good fun though a little precarious and choppy. We also went as far in as our boat would allow to Cathedral Cave. On the journey back we spotted some dolphins though apparently they were a little shy due to a pod of Orca whales that had migrated past the night before. It was a fabulous day and well recommended if you are ever in this neck of the woods. In the evening we had a leisurely drink before getting some fish and chips and eating it down on the beach - how British are we!
