We FINALLY spent 5 days in Cozumel, Mexico. And most of you know why I say finally. Well, if you don't it's because there was a hurricane on our first attempt and a family emergency the second. So this was going to be our third and final attempt. But it worked out! We stayed at the Wyndham Cozumel and loved it. The Mexican people were some of the most friendly and accommodating we have experienced. Even though our hotel was all inclusive, we didn't spend that much time there. We went to Chichen Itza, and Tulum and then rented a Jeep and toured the island. That took up 3 days and we were only there for 5. But I managed to take a lot of photos so it looks like we were there for a month.

On our first day we had to wait for our room to be ready which was a little annoying but how can you complain in paradise so we go ourselves a few cocktails and enjoyed the beach while we waited.

Then on day 2 we went to Chichen Itza. We had to get up at 6am to make the ferry but it was worth the early rise. We went swimming in a sink hole and then to see Chichen. It was amazing. The photos of that trip are in our Chichen blog.

Day 3 we went to Xel Ha and then to Tulum (those pics are in the other entry too). Again we had to get up at 6 am to make the ferry. Tulum was amazing too but after seeing Chichen it didn't really compare.

Day 4 we rented a 4 wheel drive jeep, well we thought it was 4 wheel drive, but more on that later. We drove around the island stopping to snorkel and watch the pelicans. And as most of you know I had to stop and take photos! We went to the light house on Punta Sur and there was a nice view from the top, but many steps to get up there. After we enjoyed the view we hopped on the back of a make-shift pickup truck and headed down a sand road to secluded beach with beautiful sand and hammocks to rest on. My camera batteries had dies by that point so I took some photos with our disposable which you may never see, cause I can't imagine ever getting them developed AND scanned. But it was nice and relaxing. Then we headed in our jeep up the coast. We stopped for a coconut (Eric likes them, I do not). So we parked on the sand and drank our coconut water. Then when we started to leave, we couldn't. Our jeep was stuck in the sand. The coconut salesman (he is pictured with the machete) tried to help us as did many other locals. Apparently the 4-wheel drive feature of our jeep didn't work. So we needed a push and we were on our way. Thanks to all the local people that were so helpful to us. We drove a little further up the coast after that but didn’t park. Then we returned to our hotel for dinner and then headed into town. We saw a live band and danced in the Town Square. That was our final night! we got home, packed and left at 12 the next day. But not before a final snorkel trip and a delicious breakfast.
