Getting ready for Europe

I am brand new to blogging and couldn't have started at a more perfect time! I am leaving on Friday (April 4th) for a 16 day trip to Europe. I will be attending the International Destination Expo in Lyon, France from April 12 - 16 and really used that as my starting point when planning the trip. Although I have done a good amount of European travel, I have never been to many of the countries on the France, Switzerland, Benelux region so this seemed the perfect opportunity to explore and gain some first hand knowledge about the area, the culture and the little nuances that one only gets from traveling through a region.

We will be landing in Paris and taking the train right from the airport into Brussels. While in Brussels, we plan to also take a day trip to Brugges and possibly to Luxembourg as well (I say we, because I am traveling with my mom). I have literally no expectations of Belgium (except for hearsay that the fries, or frittes, and beer are both "must haves"). This is one of my favorite ways to travel. I love getting to a new destination with no planned agenda and seeing where my experiences take me while I'm there. Sure, when I get to Paris - my last stop on this trip - I plan to see all the major tourist attractions, and I do enjoy that, but I feel most "at home" in a destination when I can be a bit of a free spirit and see where it takes me.

From Brussels, we will head to Geneva and then on to Lyon and a final stop in Paris where my dad, brother and sister in law will be joining us. I am excited to use this trip as an opportunity to start blogging my travel experiences, so expect to see blogs from Europe coming soon!

Switzerland
I'm not the quickest blogger but i will say Switzerland is absolutely amazing and still remains my favorite location of all the countries i've visited. When we meet up on wednesday i'll bring my photo album to show you some of the wonderful sites and then if you see anything you like you can write down the locations and i'll elaborate if my memory works properly. I'm so excited for you!!! Jen

You are lucky... I wish I was going with you. The places you are going will be really cool and I'm willing to bet that you will see many interesting things. You will definitely have to drink a beer or two for me...
