Chad, Godbless, and meChad, Godbless, and meChad, Godbless, and me

We studied with Godbless in Marangu Mwika last week and he showed up to Church in Moshi on Sunday morning. I was so excited!!
There are no words to describe my feelings toward this past week. The love that I feel when I am with the children, teaching them, helping them learn and watching them grow. It is truly priceless! They have completely stolen my heart and I love them so much!

Last Saturday a group of 6 from Marble Falls, Texas came over on their Spring Break to work with the children at Hannah's Nursery School and Mamma Lima's Orphanage in Boma Ngombe. Greg Neill and his wife Kris, along with three college students, Chad, Nathan, and Rachel, and one high school student, Clayton. They were a huge help in teaching the children and were a joy to have around. This week we were all in Boma Ngombe, Monday - Thursday. We spent our mornings at Hannah's Nursery School and the afternoons at Mamma Lima's Orphanage. At the Nursery School I taught the Prep Class, which is the class right before the children move into the Standard 1 class (first grade). The children know some English but I had to converse with them using the little Swahili that I do know. I know enough Swahili however that it worked out just fine. I

At services in Marangu Mwika
had 13 students everyday and they learned so much. We spend a lot of time on numbers, counting, and learning the parts of the body. We did 2 Bible lessons everyday and worked a little bit on their colors if we had time after that. The age I taught has to learn how to speak everything in English. So not only did I have to teach them how to count but also how to count in English. The Tanzanian law states that all children starting in Standard 1 must be taught totally in English. I had to have some translation help by Brent Richardson and he was a huge help in getting them to understand the more difficult things. The children appreciate everything you do for them and I can not count the times I heard, "Thank you teacher," during this week. They are truly precious children.

We had 2 breaks during the day for the children to go outside and play but their favorite thing to do is to sing. So we would sing almost the whole break time, some in English, and some in Swahili. They love to belt out all their songs! After the school day is over we would all go outside and the kids would sit down to listen to a Bible story. Greg Neill would tell the story while we would all act out the story in a skit. The children absolutely loved that...free entertainment! I am sure they thought we were some crazy "wazungu" (white people). They had a great time and we all could not keep from laughing. At about 12:00 we were finished at the school everyday and them we would load up in the van and go over to Mamma Lima's Orphanage. We would sing a lot of songs with them and we would do a Bible story with a skit. I can not describe to you the feeling of holding a little orphan child, knowing they do not have a family and there is nothing you can do about that. Leaving the orphanage while they are waving and wanting you to come back. My heart was completely ripped out of my chest this week and I could not help but to sit down and cry.

Friday we took the group from Texas to Arusha so they could go shopping and run some errands. They went on safari Saturday morning so they stayed Friday and Saturday night at the ACSOP (Andrew Connally School of Preaching). It was hard telling them goodbye Friday night, for we have all become such good friends. They were a tremendous asset to the work here in Tanzania and many blessing came from them being here.

After this week of working with the kids I can not help but to thank everyone again who helped me come to Tanzania. I love this work with all my heart, your contributions have been a great help and I truly appreciate it. I wish you could be here to see the fruit prosper with your own eyes. It is a wonderful blessing to be able to witness. Thank you so much!

In Christian Love,
Callie
