Hey All!
So, we made the 10hour journey to Gokarna - on a bus aswell!! but this time it was much less hair-raising - well, we think it was, couldn't actually see where we were going as we were in a bunk-bed of a little shoebox all the way....managed to sleep lots as a result though....it's deffinately the way forward we think!
What a lovely village, set by the sea and surrounded by lush jungle and with only villagers, pilgrims and the odd backpacker for company - oh and dont forget the cows and bugs!
We found a fantastic little place to stay across the road from the beach (100RS just over 1GBP per night) - the cheapest yet!....pics will explain why, but hey, that's the aim of the game. Actually despite first looks, it was quite nice, a little shed converted into a room with wooden bed (yep hardly any mattress to speak of!) fan and bathroom - we also had a pet lizard who visited us each morning!
Not really much to tell, we spent 2 days chilling and wandering through the village (which took all of 15 mins!) which is quite nicely very behind
the times!
One major piece of news - which you can see through the pics - is the loss of the furry monster that was growing on Dan's face!....few what a relief - well the end result is, not the inbetween stage, that's quite scary (Borat springs to mind!!)
(Dan) ...Karl - before I forget, you would have a field day here if you came to re-wire this country, it's frightening how they wire things up here, check the pics !!!
Also as you will see in the pics of the toilet it takes a while to master how to use one of these things but that said i'm ok with it now and have built up my quads in doing so..! i've also mastered the art of eating a curry with my fingers as most places do not provide cutlery - MUMS & DADS looking forward to eating a roast dinner this way on our return...............NOT!!!
We've finally got into 'Indian Time' in that 1 hour = 2 hours and so fourth, we are also slowing down alot more now and just rolling with the days. although Nic still feels guilty for sitting still for
more than two minutes, She's getting there though. Oh had a bowl of cornflakes yesterday with milk (the portion was not really a Dan sized portion but not bad!!), yum, which is very rare here and Nic was over the moon to find Fruit salad muesli with yoghurt. I think they think i'm weird here as I order alot more than the average Indian for Breakfast.!
Anyway to sum it up it was a lovely place to spend a few days the people were nice and the sea water warm (warm as a bath).
Were now in Hubli for a few hours until our train leaves at 9.00pm to Mysore.....(Nic) Yippeee, lots more markets and colourful bits!!...sure I should've been a magpie!..Hopefully I'll be able to loosen the purse-strings a little...fingers crossed!!
So onwards and upwards.
Dan & Nic
