Ok so I know it is a little soon for a new post, but i thought i would talk about my very interesting day in Athens. I started out the morning witnessing true democratic protesting. Peaceful, and non violent. Wow what a concept. Would not find that in the US. Everyone in Athens was on strike today, and it was kicked off with one big party. Beer, music, dancing and continued on into day. Just about 1000 people walking down the main streets passed city hall, chanting, dancing, and having their voices heard. Have i mentioned how much our country sucks. Sure there was the national guard and police battalion getting ready just in case, but those are precautions. It was really interesting to be in the middle of it all.
I then headed to Lycabettus Hill, in which i climbed to the top. Wow that was more of a workout than climbing to the top of the Eiffel tower. I literally scaled a moutain. Ok not literally but it felt like. The view from above was wonderful. You could see the entire city. I then treated myself to lunch, hillside at the little restaurant they have up there. I had a magnificent club sandwich and just sat enjoying the view and the amazing sunny day. My sunburn is turning a nice brown sort of. I then made my way back to the bottom and just in time for the end of the demonstration in front of city hall. I was so tired that i walked through Plaka, a cute shopping district with winding streets, and then made my way back to the hostel. At this point I had a killer migraine and needed to rest. I think the stress of looking ahead to find a hostel in Venice brought that on. Note to self kids....if you plan to travel in Southern Europe over Easter...books months in advance to avoid the headache. After I was rested, but still with a headache, I showered the longest hottest shower to make myself feel better. I made the decision that what I needed was a nice relaxing dinner.
Therefore, I got ready and walked back to Plaka area where I found the most adorable, most inviting setting for dinner. A restaurant called Tepina. Cream table cloths, candlight, calming music, and the most hospitable staff in the world, not to mention the food. I ordered a glass of the house white and the Crepes with Spinach, Feta cheese, and cream tomato sauce. I dont know how to say amazing in Greek, but it was darn good. Just what I needed after my day. Unfourtunately I am still suffering from that dang headache that wont dissipate so I am going to head to bed early. Tomorrow I will head to the Port to see about my day trip to the Islands. You will hear from me soon. Yiaspera.

Man, I'm jelious of your trip to the Vatican. I think that it would have been cool to see it the day before Palm Sunday! Also, all of the food that you are eating there! One day, when we are old and rich with nothing to do but travel, we can go back and eat all of these things again! Miss you and can't wait to read your next posting! Love you!
