Getting close to the kangaroosGetting close to the kangaroosGetting close to the kangaroos

Quietly approaching them....
A most interesting day...we had an all day tour with Wild Escapes - they should rename it Boring Escapes. We spent 7 hours in a van with 8 other people my age an older! Why do so many people my age seem 20 years older!!!! The many hours in a van had three 10 minute highlights! 1. our first encounter with kangeroos in the wild - the best part of the day. 2. the Australian Grand Canyon - so much smaller than ours in the US and 3. site of the 2000 Olympics. We made the best of the day - Vitamin T (that would be Tyler's handle) is now scratched on a rock in Australia!!! The area today is the Blue Mountains - when people come to the northwest they always comment on "the size of our mountains". I now know why - these are hills in our homeland!

A few fun facts: 21 million people in Australia - 4 million live in Sydney; Australia is the size of the US; gasoline (or petrol) is about $5.80 cents a gallon; average home in Sydney is $500,000.

Tonights our last night and tomorrow (5:20am) we head for the airport.
Whoops..a little too close!Whoops..a little too close!Whoops..a little too close!

Or maybe Tyler scared 'em!
Our next stop is Ayers Rock - another wonder of the world. On Tuesday (Monday to you) we will be spending a good portion of the day with the Aboriginal Tribe!!!

So Fun To Track You!
Hello Jan and Tyler! I was able to get on your blogs tonight and track your trip to-date. This is a great way to follow your adventure. Looks like you two are having a blast. Sorry today was a bore. Jan, I should have told you those blokes drive on the wrong side - thought you knew, sorry! Have you had vegemite yet? It's awful, but they love it and you can't leave without trying it. They eat it on everything! Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds. Hugs, Dannielle

To Everyone...forgive the typos!
It is such a challenge to get connected in many different parts of the world - but so worth it. No spell check on this site so just look past the typos....miss you all!

Give Maddie a hug and kiss for us!
Greg - thanks for sharing Maddie's comment and talking to her about us and our trip. We will be sending pictures of camels for her tonight and telling you our story about the camel ride! Tyler laughed about the "which one is the Kangaroo" comment. Love you guys...

Vegemite???
Danniell e - thanks for tracking us! We will ask about the vegemite -haven't seen it on a menu as of yet. Yes, I knew about the driving on the opposite side and I thought I was only going to have to drive from the airport to our hotel...didn't know I would be driving all over New Zealand (well at least parts of it). It was a challenge - glad I (we) did it - makes a good story and I can say "I did it". Hope all is well with your "moving on" - looking forward to talking to you real time when I return. hugs...jan
