Hi! You are receiving this message from me (Val Hoffman) because I thought you might like to be included in journal entries that I hope to send out from a trip that my husband Bob and I are taking to the Galapagos Islands and to various locations in Peru. It will be a 5-week trip. We will be flying out of Los Angeles at 6:00 AM on Thursday, March 20, and will arrive in Guayaquil, Ecuador. There we wil be joined by fellow travelers from the Aquarium of the Pacific (AOP) and from all around the world. At that point we will all be in the hands of Lindblad Expeditions. They will then fly us all to the Galapagos Islands and see to it that we board our ship, the Polaris. If you want to read more about it as we go, make sure that you have your browser set so that it accepts the link that I send to you here. I should have some good stories to tell and photos as well. So "hasta la vista" and I'll see you in May.

Have a great trip!
Looking forward to your blogs. Have a great trip. The Galapagos Islands are really fantastic. Safety Tip: Guyaquil is an interesting place but don't wander around unescorted except in the square with the land iguanas and the cathedral. We hired a guide and a driver to go sightseeing in Guyaquil and were fine, but all the nice houses are gated and have guards armed with machine guns at the front door!

WOW
Terry, Josie, Sean, Stef ... why aren't we on that trip! Guess Val and Bob will have to be our eyes and ears - can't think of anyone better. VAl, I know you will come back with lots of ideas on how to turn this planet around!

Turning the planet around
Margaret, I wish you and Steve were with us. You would love it so much. The Lindblad organization is so pro-conservation and sustainability that I am proud of what they are accomplishing. We all have to work together to make changes. Now, at the Amazon, we are experiencing the same with Explorama. Everything this organization does is to portect and preserve the Amazon. Wait 'til you see my photo of me holding a piranha! (Alive!) .......Val
