Hi all

Well the day after I last left you, in the morning we went to the reverse bungee along the Singapore river in Clarke Quay. Somehow Tom decided it didn't look too bad and decided he would give it a go, however once on it took the operator a lot of persausion and the odd bit of emotional blackmail before Tom decided to go through with it. For those of you who don't know what a reverse bungee is, it is where you are at the bottom of two pieces of bungee held between two towers in a seat, then they pull the bungees tight and release the seat. For the first few seconds neither of us screamed, just because we actually couldn't, we got to 200kph ina few seconds, but after that the screaming started, (you can here Tom most on the DVD) it was absolutley brilliant though couldn't take in the sights that well.

In the afternoon Tom needed a rest (I don't think he was feeling great) so I went around a few of the sights, saw the Singapore flyer, Anderson bridge and Raffles landing spot to name a few. Then the evening it was off to the night Safari. The Night Safari was brilliant as most of the creatures are night creatures they all come out and most of the barriers are moats so you can get really close to them all. The Tigers in particular were spectacular up close, and walking through the bat cage was fun. And someone decided to see how close to the Lions they could get so we heard them roar as well. When we got back to the hotel I had to get into a taxi to the hospital.

I got discharged about 1pm the next day and had a few things to sort out with the insurrance then had a hours sleep before we went to the race course to see the horse racing. Now Grandad tells me he spent a night at the racecourse in the war, but looking at it I assume it has changed quite a bit (or Singapore were well ahead of the rest of the world in buildings). Tom ended up the night about S$20 up on the night though half of that was due to horses with amusing names finishing high up in their races.

Then it was off to Ministry of Sound which was a bit of a let down as it was not that busy though if it had been busy it would have been amazing.

It was then our last morning in Singapore though we didn't get out the hotel till 10 so we had a few hours to do some shopping and get some then it was off on the mrt for the last time to the airport. The flight to Bali was fairly uneventful apart from a little baby next to me so when I got the opportunity to change seats due to my entertainment not working I took it straight away. At the airport we went to the ATM Tom took out 100,000 Rupiah. After I told him that was about 6 pound he took a bt more out.

After we made it through the airport in Bali we headed to Kuta beach, booked into our hotel and headed to get some more food. Kuta beach in Bali is a massive party beach loads of nightclubs, loads of bars and entertainment and I would like to tell you we took full advantage of this, only we couldn't. The next day was the Bali new year which we had only just found out. On Bali Year all the businesses shut down (shops, resturants, tv stations, airports, etc) and people aren't allowed out of there homes or hotels. So at 11 we were kicked out the resturant and we found a bar near our hotel for an hour. There were some locals there, I was suspicous of them thinking they were up too something especially when the bargirl offered us more drinks, Tom relaxed right into it and turned out he was right and they were just there for a good time. Though we were amazed they were able to ride their motorbikes considering how drunk they were.

We didn't get up till nearly midday yesterday and spent most of the day by the swimming pool (the hotel sold food for one day only) and when it went dark we went and played cards in the room, well until the power went out. I don't know if you have ever tried to come up with things to do in power cuts when you can't go outside and it is only 7pm but it is unsurprisingly difficult, we ended up reading and playing cards by torchlight.

This morning we headed to the beach first thing and then got some lunch. Kuta is unbelivably touristy a lot of touts trying to sell us things but unlike India they actually take no for an answer. However it means most of the beach is taken up by stalls. There are a few surfers in the water and I can't wait till I can learn to do that. We are now in Ubud a bit inland in Bali and are about to meet up with the next tour which I can't for.

Speak to you soon
