Previously called Fairy Penguins, but this was deemed politically incorrect, hence the new name 'Little'.
After meeting up with Julie surprisingly easily at Singapore Airport (considering there are 3 terminals!), we made our way to a quiet surprisingly warm Sydney. We couldn't have gotten more central with our hotel (well done Greg), it was great for walking everywhere which we certainly did plenty of!

So glad we didn't miss out on the grand final of the National Sausage Competition, most amusing on Darling Harbour, though not too sure about Aussie tastes in sausages. They sure do take their snags seriously though!

Took in all the must see sights; Sydney Harbour bridge, the Opera House, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Botannical Gardens, Manly Beach. We went to Taronga Zoo and saw koalas and kangaroos (which we later saw in the wild for free in the Oz experience bus and have been seeing - and nearly running over ever since, oops!).

We've now both had our fair share of chicken schitzel, seems to be a favourite here in Oz, not sure how or why though...

We said Goodbye to Julie and left Sydney (way too early in the morning) on the Oz experience bus for the 3-day long trip to Melbourne and a blummin good

One of many taken from a variety of view points. Gets quite boring after a while!
trip it was too. We did and saw loads.

Our guide Luke aka Gollem took us first to the capital, Canberra where he gave us really interesting tours of the National War Museum and the New Parliament House, he managed to make a pretty boring subject, actually quite interesting, needless to say, we probably now know more about Australian politics than we do our own! Canberra is a strange place, very scarily similar to the Trueman Show, too symmetrical, clean and eerily quiet.

Then on through some amazing national parks (no dogs allowed in any of them, Sidney would not be impressed!) up into the Australian Alps, nearly 3000m above sea level. So high, that in their winter; May through September they actually get enough snow for a ski season, how bizzare.

No snow while we were there though. Just as well really, as we were all hiking up to Blue Lake - the highest lake in Australia in our shorts and t-shirts!

Spent our 1st evening on the tour in a motel on the lake in Jindabyne where Greg and Emma successfully and not so successfully respectively, did our wakeboarding the next day.

One of the national parks we visited on the Oz bus, Wilsons Promontory.
mentioned previously, we got to see koalas, kangaroos and wombats in the wild along the way. They're all so tame and seem quite happy for people to get up real close taking pictures and sometimes stroking them. At one camp ground we stopped at, we even saw a kangaroo supervising some campers having a bbq - aren't kangaroos supposed to be herbivores?! - Maybe it was corn on the cob...

And that was our tour to Melbourne. Thoroughly recommend the Oz experience buses for getting around the country, you see so more and our guide was fantastic - on something - but fantastic, he had so much enthusiasm for everything we did and had so much knowledge about everything, most enjoyable.

Now on to Melbourne....

Poor Wombat. Had really bad skin, wasn't really bothered about the 17 of us gather around him.
