Greetings from Godzone (God's own country)!

Cait and I landed in Auckland yesterday morning. We're at the Fat Camel hostel in downtown. Lots of young backpackers, loud colorful decor and clean, if impersonal.

We've already done so much in just two days. The Sky Tower is the tallest point in the Southern Hemisphere at 382 meters (? Not sure about that fact.) We've seen at least half a dozen people jump off it! On Monday, Cameron Dias jumped off! They attach you to cables and you have a controlled fall for about 12 seconds.

Parnell Road is filled with cafes, a GREAT chocolate boutique, restaurants and craft stores. Queen Street is the downtown with courtyards of Asian food stands, tall buildings, designer stores and the only apartment buildings we've seen here in Auckland (everyone owns houses). K'Road is the funky, artsy district with a lot of cheap Indian veggie places and thrift stores. There are also SO many Korean restaurants out here. Mmm...

Funny News: Apparently I've already developed an accent. Being jet lagged and surrounded by British backpackers in our dorm rooms, Caitlin made the observation that I am "saying things funny". I think I'm

This is located smack in the middle of the Auckland Domain, a giant park much like Central Park or Golden Gate Park.
just tired and open to new experiences 😊. Maybe I'll develop a New Zealand accent.

We're here in the city for the weekend so we can check out the nightlife. Then we head up North to the Bay of Islands and 90 Mile Beach.

Sorry, no pictures yet. Soon I hope!! Great vistas out here.
