airport getting ready to go
airport getting ready to go Hello and welcome to my first blog
the trip started a little rocky when we almost missed our flight, not that we where not at the airport in time or that we didn't get to our gate in time. we where busy chatting and thought that a great line of people where queuing up for our gate but in fact it was the gate next door and 279 people had boarded the plain and we where the last 3. it was only that i noticed there where no more Japanese people around i started to wonder.
anyway we got on. flight was good first 9 hours went quite quickly the last three where hell.
our first night out in tokyo we went to Roppongi it was fascinating just like you see on the films and TV with the bright lights and neon signs. we had dinner in a really lovely restaurant which was recommended by an English guy we meet that was now working over here so we gave it ago and we are glad we did.
first morning we all woke up about 5.30 not out of choice!!! so we had breakfast (which there was an English option thank god,
coz i really could not of stomached fish that early in the morning) i also tried out their toilet which gave me a bit of a surprise not only is it heated by you can choose from different water shoots and the different pressure. i did not realize that it was up to the highest water pressure when i turned it on. there was almost a holly shape through the bathroom door.
we decided not to do an organised to, and we would be brave and see everything we wanted to see by ourselves (arnt we clever) we first went to Akihabara, Tokyo's discount electronics neighborhood, we wandered around seeing what there was to offer. From there we went to the Imperial palace home to Japans emperor. walking around the gardens where very peaceful from the main parts of town. We walked to the Soney building which has the latest up to date high tec stuff which will be in our shops in about a yeah...there is some very cool gadgets coming our way (and no matt i did not buy you any- sorry). from there we went to the harbor but the other two didn't like the look of
the boat so we went and had some lunch.
In the evening we went to Shinjukus east side. this was even more packed than any other places we had been, we walked into the red light district, and walked straight back out again...couldn't tell if they where men or women 😊
god knows how we did it but we made it to mount Fuji without getting lost. we took a 3 hour bus ride which took us almost right out side the guest house.
the guest house is truly the best place i have stayed in a long time it is very Japanese with the low down to the floor beds and you have to take your shoes off and put their little slipper things on. me and katie have already been in the out side hot springs in the SNOW!!!! oh yes did i forget to mention its bloddy snowing here!!! i am frozen to the bone as i write this i can not really feel my fingers much (they dont belive in heating).
tomorrow we are off to do some more exploring in and around mount fuji. hopefully my feet will come back to life
soon. i have not done this much walking ever!!!! (think of all the points holly)
