Welcome to Sydney
While we were waiting today I saw this sign...LOL Hi All what a day! The day started out fine, the sun was shining, we got to the airport after check out at 10 am, and walked around, found somewhere to sit down, had morning tea and started walking around the shops again so we could see what there was to fill in time while we waited for our plane. Found the observation deck, was great up there watching the planes land.
Then the world turned up side down, we got a call from someone at QANTAS letting us know that our plane to Norfolk Island was cancelled due to the weather, here we are looking at blue skies but apparently the weather out there over Norfolk was bad enough for them to call the plane off. So we have to turn up again at the same time tomorrow, lets hope I don’t get a phone call!
So we started to call hotels looking for a room for the night… “Sorry Maam we are booked solid, Mardi Gras” Just happens that the Sydney Mardi Gras is on this weekend, not s room available in the city at all… we got a phone call from DB who sorted out
Landings
From the observation desk. a room way out in the boondocks..LOL 2 hours on a train and a bus because the last couple of km of track they are working on the railroad. What an adventure!
I felt like Mary and Joseph with no room at the inn..LOL only we did find a room at the Inn.... the Rooty Hill Holiday Inn (Thanks DB).. BIG RSL next door so Charlie and I plan to get well and truly sloshed this evening....well it didn’t happen but we did win $50 at the keno and pokies though…. We also got our standard room upgraded to an executive suite, lovely, wide screen TV, Speedy BROADBAND Sheline! Hey you aught to come live here! Anyway it’s a nice way to end a horrid day, as we were really unsure where we were going to end up.
So all is well just at present, we have a king size bed to sleep in, a roof over our head, Charlie is watching football on TV, I have broadband internet to catch up blogging…we are happy….we will do alright tomorrow! Everyone cross your fingers!
