Hello everyone. Still haven't got all the photos on that I would like., so we have a connection on the boat right now and I will try to add a few more.

We have some awful greasy photos too.,, not the nice Margaritas in the cockpit ones, but a big project that is being undertaken by sailorboy, Robin, replacing the steering wheel cables.
We have had some really strong winds in the afternoon, and so every afternoon, we just hope that the anchor holds, it's a little unnerving at times, but that's life at anchor. Anyhow, today Robin had to go into Puerto Vallarta to get some cable, and he asked if I wanted to go, I said "no, I've had plenty of bus rides for a while", so I decided to stay on the boat. Since the steering wheel is off, he put on the emergency tiller, which is a huge metal pipe looking thing. real strange, to say the least. Anyhow, as I sat here today, I started thinking about the anchor dragging, and what I would do... and it wasn't a fun thought. When I told Robin about my concerns, before he left, he said, well, you could come with me, and not have to think about it, true....But I didn't want to go on a bus ride again, so I stayed on the boat., but I tell you, I wasn't too relaxed thinking about having to deal with a dragging anchor and a huge metal t-shaped tiller sticking up inplace of the steering wheel.

After he came back, we talked about...NEXT TIME... we need to have a project like this done on the boat, we will go into a marina, if possible, pay the money and work without swells and with plenty of water and electricity. The project isn't done, we still have more to do, so it'll be another day or so until it is put in place, then everything that was taken out of it's storage place, replaced, etc. It's such a project just to DO a project.

Also, this morning I decided to go to shore by myself with the dingy. I already picked up the dingy ,with the wheels on it, at the beach, and I found I could pull it up into the beach with not too much effort. Well, I went this morning by myself to go to the internet cafe, and everything went well. When I returned, it had become another blustery afternoon...There was a little swell coming into the dingy landing. I was a little nervous. I want to make sure I can push the dingy out a ways, so I can jump in and start the engine quick to get out over any little swells coming in. I tried to watch the swell, and after one came in, I pushed out the dingy, and then another swell came in, and I decided to wait until it came before I jumped into the dingy. As it came alongside the dingy, the water raised up about 2 feet, and my whole skirt got soaked. I jumped in, and of course the engine had to be dropped down and opened up, etc, before I could pull start it. This is where I got nervous coz another swell was coming in, and it would push me right back onto the shore. Luckily the engine started and everything was OK, except I was salty up to my waist by now. Then, as I was heading out to the boat in a lot of choppy water, the engine doesn't turn too well in one direction, due to the placement of the dingy wheels. I had a devil of a time, trying to head up to our boat. Needless to say, it was not fun, and I'm not planning on doing it again anytime soon. This couple we know, I've seen him bring her to shore to the fisherman's dock, drop her off, and she does her thing, then she calls him on their little handheld ICOM radio, and he comes to get her. No muss, no fuss. I mentioned that to Robin, I said, "That's pretty nice, Huh?" He said, "Yeah" Then I said, "would you do that for me" and he said, "yeah, I could" So I will take him up on that...Beaching the dingy isn't bad, when you have someone to help you, but alone, with swells coming in, no....I don't think I enjoy that part actually.

Tomorrow I go for my cavity filling, and Robin (after more greasy steering cable fun) will meet this man who brought down our autopilot we ordered up in SD, and hopefully we can leave here and visit a new place. Looking forward to it.
All for now. Jean & Robin

Been trying to add photos and I keep getting bumped off before the photo is downloaded, so I will try tomorrow.....
