Toda, Tuesday we arrived in Limon, Costa Rica, which translates to Rich Coast. Arrived at around 0700 to a temperature of 23c and expected to rise to around 27c, which it did.

Costa Rica is made up of seven provinces, the capital being San Jose and is in the province of the same name. The province of Limon occupies the whole of the eastern side of Costa Rice the capital of the province being Limon City with a population of 90,000. We were told that they do in fact have a vast amount of crime there and that there is still is a drug problem.

We took a day out to visit the man made canals and the rain forest hoping to see some wildlife but must have been their day off as not much around, still quite enjoyable. Our boat trip on the canals lasted for around one and a half hours and although no wild animals, plenty of birds and trees. We were stopped on one canal by security forces as this particular canal ran through to Nicaragua, the reason for this was to try and stop drug trafficking as much as possible. The rain forest was done mainly by cable cars which took you way above the trees, again quite exciting. After lunch there, a short stroll through the forest, a bit of shopping and then back to the ship for our onward journey to Mexico.
