the whole group
like i said, we took over the restaurant...20 people to be exact, although you can't see lauren or charles in this one HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEILANI-SAN! yesterday was leilani's 24th birthday, so of course we had to party it up in japan! haha not really...it was actually a really laid-back, quiet evening. we all went to out to dinner at sandori restaurant in makino, which is right down the road. after we got the group together at sem 4, there were about 20 people, we all got on our bikes and rode down to the restaurant. it was such an amusing sight to see this huge pack of gaijin taking over the street...we really were like a biker gang this time! lol. the restaurant was this tiny little place that you can hardly notice from the road, but it was so awesome! all the meals were between 500 and 700 Y and they were huge portions!! so we pretty much took over the whole restaurant, and i felt sorry for the lady working cause she was the only person there! so as we were all taking our seats i was like, good god where am i going to sit? but then leilani was like "xamena, i saved you a seat next to me!" so i thought that was really nice of her, and
me and leilani
lucky me, getting to sit next to the birthday girl it made me feel special...you know, like the best friend's seat 😊 hehe i love that girl!!
after we all sat down, me and leilani started looking at the pics she had taken so far on her camera. we get to the ones of her and ben and are like, "oh that's a good one! ben's so funny" and then all of a sudden i'm like "WAIT...WHERE IS BEN?" cause i just realized he wasn't in the restaurant. so we're thinking "oh no! we lost ben somehow on the way to the restaurant...and he even had sayaka riding on the back" and just then guess who walks through the door? yep, it's ben and sayaka and will. and yes they did get lost. we felt kinda bad for losing them, but it was pretty funny how we didn't even notice until we were looking at the pictures...
i ordered the toriniku, which is like teriyaki chicken. it was AMAZING! so my meal consisted of a cup of hot ochya (tea), a bowl of miso soup, a huge plate of rice, and like 3 pieces of chicken and a piece of fish. and it was very very oishii, probably
where's ben?
as ben and the others finally walked in the door...he doesn't look too happy the biggest meal i've had in a long time over here. but leilani's meal was even bigger than mine! and she kept giving me her pieces of meat. they were so good, but i was so full i was like, stop feeding me leilani! i mean we did just go to the gym before dinner...so much for that lol.
then we made our rounds around the table taking pictures. i kinda felt like a mom cause i had to take a bunch of pics of leilani with everyone, but it was fun! then they gave leilani her birthday card...but when we looked at the names i realized that somehow the card never got to me, so i was the only one who didn't sign it! it was pretty funny, considering how i'm like her best friend there...so i just had to sign it afterwards! then after dinner we all rode back to the seminar house...well not everyone. some people decided to go to liquor mountain (love the name lol). and as much fun as a place like liquor mountain sounds, i decided not to go since i had 2 quizzes the next day that i hadn't even started studying
one end
this is one end of the table...ben, roslyn, bas, and then some german guy i don't know for.
so overall it was a fun night! the only thing is that we forgot to look for the lunar eclipse. we even said during dinner that we should look for it on the bike ride home. but of course we completely forgot! oh well...it happens in another 6 years right?
and now i have a BIG announcement to make!!!...
I'M MOVING!!!!! yeah i'm pretty sure that i'm going to change seminar houses and move to seminar house 4! i've though a lot about this, and i think i'll be happier living there. here's the thing: i LOVE having my own unit, with my own kitchen and living room and shower. BUT...i'm just not having a lot of fun living here. all my unit-mates are really nice people, but they're just not the types of people i hang out with! and my roomie is especially nice, which is why i feel so bad about moving. i don't want her to think that i don't like her! we may not hang out, but i do enjoy talking to her in the evenings about korea and telling her about the US. and then just talking about all the
other end
other end of the table...bettina, lauren, charles (he makes fun of my workouts!), and i don't know the last girl's name lol other things about our days! but i've noticed the atmosphere in seminar house 3 is completely different from that of seminar house 4. sem 3 is really quiet, and people usually keep to themselves because they don't have to leave their unit hardly ever. but in sem 4 everything is so much livelier and the people are more social. there's a lounge and dining area/kitchen on the first floor that's huge that everyone uses, and it's kind of like the hang out spot. everytime i go over there, i always see someone i know. of course i won't have my own shower or a balcony, but i think it'll be a lot more fun to live there. plus nearly all of my friends live there! i would be right down the hall from leilani and lauren. and bas, anton, ben, taheer, and a lot of other people i know all live there. so i think moving to sem 4 is the right decision. and the best part is that i will get about $225 dollars back since it costs more to live in sem 3. think of all the shopping i could do with that money!...or better yet, that's enough
peace!
the classic asian pose lol to completely pay for my hiroshima trip next weekend. the only thing is that i don't want to be put with some weird person in sem 4. so i'm gonna get leilani to check who doesn't have a roommate and see if it's anyone good. otherwise, i might get stuck with people who are worse than the one's i live with now! but i'm sure that won't be a problem. now all i have to do is type up the letter to give to the office and i should be moved by march! i'm pretty excited...i just don't know how to tell my current roommates!
