This past Saturday I went with some friends on a day trip to Penedes. Penedes is located in the wine-making region of Catalonia. We took about a 30 minute train ride to the town, and got there around 11 am, right in time for the last tour of Freixenet Wine and Cava Company. We only had to pay 5 Euros, which included a 10 minute video of the history of the company (in Spanish so we didn't quite understand it all), a guided tour (also in Spanish), and a glass of cava (which is what champagne is called if it is made in Spain). The guide took us underground where we saw tons of barrels of wine and cava, tons of bottles that we being fermented, some of the old machines and equipment they used to use as well as the new and modern equipment, and the fields where they grow the grapes. It was soooo much fun and really interesting to see how the whole process is done. At the end of the tour they took us to the gift shop, of course, where they sell all kinds of souvenirs and ton of different kinds of wine and cava. The

they had all these old antique cars out front that were used for advertising
bottles were pretty cheap too, they started at like 4 Euro, so we bought a few to take back to Barcelona with us, which we later enjoyed on the beach while the sun was setting.
