I give them credit for admitting it...
When we were in Greenville, we were looking forward and planning our week off already. Kyle mentioned to me that the rest of the crew (minus Anne who is gone), since they were technically chaperones, was going to help out with chaperone things during our week off. He asked if that’s something I’d be interested in. Because I haven’t been around long or seen what that entails, I didn’t want to commit to too much. But I asked what the options were. He listed off a few, then he got to one that was familiar. “You could give Bev some time off and help with meals.” Ooooh, oooh, that one! I can do that one!

So everyone is slotted to cook one or two, and I believe I am doing three or four. Yesterday, Bev was running me through the menu and the kitchen and everything and she said, “There’s the cooler… here’s the oven. We’ll have to figure out how to use it.” My response: Oh, it’s a Blodgett, I know that one. And I showed her how it wanted to work.

At breakfast today, Sharye wasn’t sure how the dishwasher all went together. She asked me, I showed her and then did all the dishes. I was so much in my element. After breakfast, I couldn’t wait to get to lunch and cook; my hands were itching to get in there. Again, loving being in there and doing something that I knew how to do and is helpful to the team. There are so many things within this organization that I don’t know how to do or I’m not involved in. It was blast. I ended up doing most of the dishes for dinner too, only this time I had help. Gilbert came in and really liked the sprayer so I let him help do that and run the disher.

After lunch, Kyle, Elissa, and DI walked down to ht library in the rain to use the internet. We are in fact staying at a church on cots with now internet in the building. Kyle and I had to get emails and make phone calls for future shows. But, on the door of the library, there was a sign to the affect of “no cell phones.” Stink! So Kyle and I, being the schmoozers we are, sweet-talked the librarian into letting us into some random room to make calls. Sarah and Prossy joined us later. On the walk back, we saw some cardinals, which was pretty quick. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them before.

While Prossy and I were making lunch, she let me know that the two girls from her choir that we hosted are doing well. One of them, Rose I believe, is a mother, and the other, Anna, is studying medicine and living an hour from Kampala. She then asked me when I will come visit them in Uganda. Prossy said I can stay with her and she will show me around and take me to see the girls and our kids and the rest of Uganda. At dinner tonight, Joan asked, “Auntie, when will you come to Uganda?” Maybe that will be my next stop after tour. Hopefully Ethiopia will be in there too.

We watched a movie to end the day, which was fun because we got all union about it. Being as I’m the lighting director and vidiot and Kyle is the audio supervisor, I had to get up and get the DVD to play and turn off all the lights, then Kyle got up to adjust volume for us. Yes, lots of edification going on around here.

That was so fun to hear that Rose and Anna are doing so well. Gulp, it would be great for you to see them again in Uganda. The world seems a very small place to know you may see them again someday. They made such a lasting impact on our family as small children and now you are working with kids doing the same for other families....
