Hi all! I ve been very busy seeing the sights of belize. Two weekends ago we went to a field station in Orange Walk(northern Belize) called La Milpa. It was very beautiful, situated in the middle of a jungle. We took many mini hikes around the jungle learning of the different flora and fauna, saw an unexcavated Maya ruin, and did some night spotting. My favorite part was probably the howler monkeys, they really sound like dogs howling. Unfortunately I got chiggers--tiny little mites that attach to your skin or lay eggs or something--and I am very itchy, which isn't suppose to stop for weeks!
Other than that we had a five day weekend as a result of election day which only comes around every five years. A new party, the UDP, came into power which seems to make most people happy. For the break I went to Caye Caulker again, and spent my days laying in the sun and swimming at the split. A nice break was what I needed. Tomorrow Mom and Dad come and we are going to Placencia, which I hear is great.
Hope all is well in the states! Lots of love, Bitsy
