Finally Kangaroos and Koalas!

It is so beautiful here! It has stopped raining once I got here which is great because they said it poured all last week. It's a bit cloudy, but that's okay because when the sun comes out, it's bloody hot!

I've walked all around Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, The Rocks, Botanic Gardens, King Cross and took a Captain Cruise out of the Harbour around part of Sydney and under the bridge. Yesterday I took a tour to the Blue Mountains. I just wanted to kill myself when I realized that I had left my camera battery charging in my room, but luckily another guy from my hostel, Marion (pronounced Mario), was on the tour with me and offered to take pictures for me and send them to me. He was a lifesaver because the mountains were beautiful! It was a full day of walking and hiking and exploring. We got to see The Three Sisters which are the three famous peaks in the Blue Mountains. Another girl and I had walked a little too far on our own before lunch and by the time we got back, the crew had already had lunch and left on the 2nd part of the tour. So we had to take a bit of a shorter route and we met up in the end. After the tour, Marion and I went for supper at an Italian restaurant and it ended up costing me $31-way over my budget-so I just won't eat for the next three days! Food here is expensive, so hopefully I'll be able to come home a few pounds lighter.

Today was more walking. I walked down to Wooloomooloo Bay (yes, that is the spelling!) and then through Kings Cross again. Then I strolled through Darling Harbour in the nice hot sun and caught a ferry over to Taronga Zoo. This is where I saw the kangaroos and koalas, along with giraffes, zebras, elephants, lions, tigers, hippos, wallabys and so on. Just when I had finished at the zoo it started pouring. That was okay because I had to wait for the ferry anyways and on the ride back we had a view of a beautiful rainbow. Now I'm just at Woolworths. This is the popular shopping spot because it has the cheapest prices, which are still pricier than any market back home. So I'll buy something for supper and head back to my hostel to get things packed up because tomorrow I will head to Manly (about 7 km from Sydney harbour by ferry).

That's all for now. Hopefully my next hostel will have free internet! I'll post my pictures as soon as I can, I just keep forgetting my cable. Hope everyone is well back home. Stay warm, suckers!

from a sucker
Sounds like you are keeping busy. Hope the sun shines for you everyday! Make sure you get your rest -- don't get tired out right away. It was good to hear from you. Be safe - love you.

Expensive eats
Try the RSL (like our Legions, but much better), even Bowling clubs for very good, inexpensive food. Most cities and towns have some sort of club that allows visitors to 'join' for an evening at no cost.
