The Old Lags or the Hotel?
...but this time with a really warm feeling, still enjoying the fun, laughter and songs of the night before. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening as much as I did, and I now really do feel that today is the beginning of the rest of my life. So now only 3 days left in Leamington..most of which will be spent packing, and probably repacking , until I get a compromise between the things I really must have with me!! and the baggage allowance...how do people manage without their shoe and boot collection whilst doing VSO?

Since my last entry I have travelled a bit already...to Liverpool, with the "Old Lags", to again commemorate our friends Rob and Mervyn...it was wonderful that everyone agreed to do this a bit earlier this year so I could participate once more before heading for Africa. We "enjoyed" the delights of the Adelphi Hotel, visited a number of hostelries and took in a bit of culture ...Antony Gormley's men in the sand, Tate, Maritime museum etc. - somewhat ironic and poignant to read of Liverpool's prominent position in the slave trade from Africa, when next week I will be living in Cape Coast which was the principal gateway for slaves out of Africa. It would be good to feel that slavery could be consigned to history but sadly it still persists in many forms , in many places...wherever people's humanity is not afforded the respect it should be.

Anyway , enough for now, as I am keen to see if I can actually operate this blog properly by adding a photo or two...next stop...Accra!

good bye
I loved last night - it summed up all the years of singing in a few songs. I wish you such an amazing time - I hope you'll be joining us again when you return. You are an inspiration - I am sure you'll touch many people's life both here and in Ghana. I wish you both well! Love Nickyxx

Laughed all the way home...
Well, what an excellent evening and so great to see you smiling and crying!!!!! Thank you for inviting us all to spend that time with you - it was great. As I drove home, I tried so hard to remember the words of the very first songs...unsuccesfully!!!! Giggled to myself all the way home as I thought of us all wondering around, trying to sing, clap and walk - a series of tasks that many of us could NOT manage!!!!! I'm guessign your packing continues and that you probably won't read this until after you arrive and if that is the case, I hope you both arrived safely and initial arrangements have worked OK!. The blog is clearly is working and will be a great way to keep in touch. Good luck to you both, really hope it is all you hoped for!
