Ice cold in Alice
Drinking that beer promised to me by Steve Doran. Cheers mate! Today I went up into the mountains & into the jungle along a villiage trail. There was not much sign of settlement apart from the odd shack here & there. I must admit it was a little scary as all I could hear was the insects & wildlife (and the insects were biting everytime I stopped!). As I rode along, the dry leaves were scattered around behind me making rusling noises that sounded like I was being followed. I hope I have captured the essence of this place.
Once back on tarmac, the ride back down hill was exhilerating - I still didn't manage to get my knee down though.
As always, I took the long way back, & I think I found a little piece of paradise. I am not sure that I want to tell you where it is as I want to save it for myself!
Quote of the day - I met an American Guy, Mike this morning at breakfast. He told me that he was an ex Vietnam Veteran, wounded in action & has been living in Thailand for the last 5 years. He also told me that he has extensively travelled in
SE asia. I asked him what Vietnam is like now and he said..........
"I don't know, I never go back to a country that I've been shot in"
