Trail riding in the jungle

Today I went up into the mountains & into the jungle along a villiage trail. There was not much sign of settlement apart from the odd shack here & there. I must admit it was a little scary as all I could hear was the insects & wildlife (and the insects were biting everytime I stopped!). As I rode along, the dry leaves were scattered around behind me making rusling noises that sounded like I was being followed. I hope I have captured the essence of this place.

Once back on tarmac, the ride back down hill was exhilerating - I still didn't manage to get my knee down though.

As always, I took the long way back, & I think I found a little piece of paradise. I am not sure that I want to tell you where it is as I want to save it for myself!

Quote of the day - I met an American Guy, Mike this morning at breakfast. He told me that he was an ex Vietnam Veteran, wounded in action & has been living in Thailand for the last 5 years. He also told me that he has extensively travelled in SE asia. I asked him what Vietnam is like now and he said..........

"I don't know, I never go back to a country that I've been shot in"

Its difficult to capture how steep some of these slopes were.
It strikes me that every time is rains here, it must be like the Scottish International Six Day Trials Event for the locals!

It couldn't be paradise............
