At Sea on Playoff Day

We were at sea on Jan. 20 when the Packers played the Giants and couldn’t get the game on TV because of no satellite connection. However, one Packer fan brought his computer up to the Sports Bar and set it up for many fans to gather round. He connected to the NFL station through the internet, and, with a 30 second delay, got the plays with a simulated description of the game. He would read this to the crowd, as we cheered our teams accordingly. I must say there were more Packer than Giant fans watching. He also had the earlier game on, but said there were only a few people watching that one. This was costing him a pretty penny - forty cents a minute to be exact. People started a collection, and the dollars rolled in. His wife said that they were donating anything collected to Breast Cancer Cure (there was a walk earlier in the day). She had a mastectomy in October, and didn’t know if she would even make this trip, but she’s here, and very thankful. So, we started a petition to the powers that be in the front desk to reinstate this fine gentleman’s internet minutes that he used since we were all enjoying this entertainment the ship could not provide. Hope it worked. We all had a great time even though we lost. The Giant fans were nice, not obnoxious. After all, they are the ones who will have to spend the time in Christchurch, New Zealand in front of a TV while the rest of us can sight see!
The day went quickly, and our dinner table companions eased the pain with lots of banter. Even Bruce perked up after a while and joined in. Now, the question is, Will Brett be Back Next Year?

Sad Day in Wisconsin
Maybe its a good thing you couldn't actually watch the game....it was awful! Glad to hear you had some Packer fans on the ship to mourn with! Can't wait to see pictures of New Zealand! Say hello to the hobbits in the Shire!
