There are many classic shots of the mountains in the Torres del Paine Park. These are called the Cuernos or The Horns.
Ok folks, finally a little time for a very brief flashback. Patagonia for us was very special and placed us in a very isolated and beautiful mountain location for 7 whole days, no internet, no phones, no USA Today! So to begin with we had very interesting, to say the least, travel days into and out of the area- won´t get into that now but it´s quite the bus trekking phase. Now the amazing -middle 5 days- were filled with trekking -hiking days either along huge and turquoise colored glacier lakes, or through very lush birch like forests filled with mountain flowers and flowing streams and falls, and yes there were those lovely "up" days- where we got right up in the moraines and the peaks or as they call them " The Horns". For Audie and me our highlights were of course the hiking, the flowers, endless views with the most spectacular clouds (and they changed ever 5 minutes and Boberto with a new digital camera- look out shutter bug virus), and just the whole peacefulness of the mountains. The Chilean people were also very nice and definitely special in thier own way- not spiritual like the Peruveans but still

The trip across Lago Grey was eye opening because the wind was ripping.
living in that "at ease" pace and especially very proud of their land and their people. No jumps in the frigid lake for Boberto- surely temp was in the low 40s and more importantly I didn´t want to disrupt the peaceful environment- yeah right! Well check out some of our shots and hopfully it will give you a taste of the land called >Patagonia - down under.
Back to you Audie.............................and your wingless birds!!!

It was really neat to see this huge glacier and the icebergs. This was the starting point for our hiking the next three days.

Torres del Paine is full of flowers. So many different types to look at all through the hike.

We hiked up just across the canyon from this massive mountain.

When hiked up a rocky moraine to get to this place. The lake was a surprise. I can see why climbers like to come here.

These colors are not exaggerated. One thing Bob and I noticed is that even though the mountains stayed the same the sky changed so much every look seemed different.
