Cuoca! Cuoca! Cuoca!

Look how beautiful my work is!
Ah! I passed! With the help of my wonderful Italian mother, I helped make a wonderful dinner tonight of risotto con gamberetti (Risotto with lil' shrimp!). It was a great feat and absolutely delicious!

Yesterday I learned a very neat phrase in Italian:
"Sotto la pioggia, c'è fame
Sotto la neve, c'è pane"
which means, under there rain there is famine, under the snow, there is bread. This basically means that the crops need the snow to help them germinate and grow! I had no idea but thanks to my Italian Nonna I now know!

Ah, in other news, I have an addendum to my bike-riding obstacles... picture this: an older Italian lady dressed in a fur coat, holding an umbrella, smoking a cigarette, and riding her bike trying to pass me up... It is a scary thing! At least I found a couple of new routes to get me out of the most dangerous paths I've been taking. Thank Goodness!

I'm still shocked by the influence of the US culture within the media here... it is mostly US songs, or even US shows (Simpsons, Deseperate Housewives, the OC, ecc) all dubbed in Italian. and nothing is funnier
Il Risotto! Il Risotto! Il Risotto!

looks pretty good huh? it is the first meal that I've cooked in Italy :)
to me to watch the Simpsons in Italian...

Tomorrow I go to get my "permission to stay" papers taken care of... will let you know how that goes. Until then!
