Hope y'all are not getting to bored with our travels...

Christmas Day started with breakfast prepared by Charles while we waited for Keif, one of Jan and Charles's grand children, to get up to "find" his presents under the tree. Keif was very excited about his race car track and mobile phone.

We were a bit embarassed as Robert had told us that there was no gift giving only "Bad santa" which I will explain later for those of you who are thinking "what the..??" but as you saw in the earlier photos of Charles' attempt at wrapping, there were gifts to be opened....

Eventually when everyone arrived and the table laden with food, honey ham, broccoli rice & cheese (yummy), creamy mashed potato, brownies, a fantastic lemon cheese cake, and much much more, was devoured the call went out for all the children to get their presents and then for those who wanted to be a part of "Bad Santa"

"Bad santa" is where everyone involved puts in a present that is suitable for all ages, either male or female and must be under the value of $xx.00. You then draw a number to see what order the presents are selected in. When it is your turn you can either select a present from the pile in the middle or "steal" a present that someone else has already opened... this person, who has had their present "stolen" can then "steal" someone elses present or choose from the middle. A present can only be "stolen" once in a round... a round being until someone takes from the middle again at which time all presents can be "stolen" again....confused???

The person that had first choice is also the only one that has a second choice right at the end.... that certainly puts the cat amongst the pigeons.

Believe it or not there were even strategies in play so that people ended up with a particular gift at the end much to the chargrin of some of the other "players".

The gifts were so varied some with gift cards, some just novelty but all were fun...some more popular than others and were "stolen" several times. Our gift ( Blaze flashing sunglasses) was quite a hit. Kevin had them stolen by his big sister who gave them to her 3 year old grand daughter and then Kevin bought them back for a $1 at first but them he felt bad and gave her $5 more...he really wanted them bad!!!

I forgot to mention when we arrived in Houston it was to the news that Charles could not pick us up as he had been involved in an accident earlier in the afternoon. Another truck run up his rear and ended up embedded under the truck bed. Charles was remarkeably well he went to the hospital. He was a bit stiff and we were really expecting him to be in a bad way Christmas Day but he said he had no pain and very little stiffness considering what had happened. We saw his boss' son at the Church service but he did not say anything did not want to spoil their christmas...think his truck might be a "write off"
