Edit Blog Post
Rather than be lagging behind on my blog i have decided to stick the 2nd and 3rd Jan into one entry, hence the title two for the price of one.
Me and HB woke up at 6.40 am ouchhh, we got ready and watched Tv and then caught the light rail and then Hoboken terminal was mobbed and so i could easily tell what its like when people are bustling to get to work and the subway was the same. Eventually HB had to head of to Lexington and i had to head to port terminal bus station to go to DC, we said our goodbyes and said to keep in touch, HB was a really nice guy, very warm and considerate and i was pleased id spent my time in NYC with him.
I navigated to the bus terminus and purchased a one way ticket to DC and it cost $39 and would take 4 hours to get there, i was booked on the 9am bus and so i ventured downstairs and started to queue for the bus and i eventually got on and this girl asked if it was the DC bus and i said well i
hope so but not being local heaven knows....lol.
I slept some of the way on the bus and caught glimpses of Delaware and Baltimore on the way and eventually got to DC just after 1pm, i got out the bus terminus and had no idea were to go, i fulled my gut feeling and arrived at Union station. i checked my bags into a storage room at the station and paid $8 for 3 hours and i then headed over to Capitol hill to sightsee and kill time as my host was working till 5pm.
I took some shots of the senate and the surrounding buildings and i then took a look around the supreme court and the congress library and it was bitterly cold, i then headed back to Union station for a pizza slice and a drink and i was charged a different price from the board and it turned out tax is added afterwards and in NYC its already added and you pay what it says on the board.
I got to my hosts apartment at 5.40pm and he was not back yet and i ended up waiting until 6.30pm and his girlfriend Nicole
let me in and soon afterwards my Host nick turned up and we wen for dinner to a thai place and i had a nice pad thai and then Nick and Nicole took me out on a drive and showed my dupont circle and other spots in town and then on to the Whitehorse and the Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington monuments and then back to Nicks flat and he let me use his PC to check emails and deal with my blog etc and he and his girlfriend were really nice.
This morning i was up and out of the apartment for just gone 9am and Nick and Nicole headed to work and i jumped on the metro to capitol hill and i got a visitors pass to see inside the senate at 12.15, so i then went and looked round the US botanical gardens and the native American museum and both were really interesting and well laid out. Then came the tour and it was great to find out more about US history and the effort made inside the senate and of most US buildings and i think perhaps this was due to US being a fledging country
to start with and they wanted to show they could do things well and perhaps better than other nations?
Again the was security checks going inside and this is a recurring theme in the US, after the senate tour i went on to the air and space museum and it was a massive and amazing musuem and i also went on airplane simulator which was fun. After that i went on to the Hershorn gallery and sculpture garden and the was some pieces there from artists such as Louis morris. Then on to the Smithsonian castle and the African art gallery, slacker gallery, Smithsonian international gallery, freer gallery and onto the Washington monument, the white house and the world war two memorial and then i jumped on the metro back to Cleveland park and Nicks place and i swung by a mexican place for a burrito and tortilla chips.
Tonight me, Nick and Nicole talking about various things like Tibetan buddism and we had herbal tea and banana chips and i have planned to visit a friend from CS(couch surfing) a girl called Andi and she lives in Richmond and so i will be off to Richmond Virgina
tomorrow.

Nice photos!
And it was a pleasure having you stay with us. :) The Richmond connection raves about how much she likes the city on her website. Be sure to mention what's so good about it! I've never heard anyone so enthused about about Virginia before.
