Hoboken Light Rail
View at top of 9th and congress st Hoboken Got up reasonably early and headed into the city and me and HB were prepared for the cold waiting for the ball drop in the evening, I had on thermals, a shirt, hoodie, fleece, thick walking socks and jeans as they where thicker than my combat trousers and my faux fur deputy dawg hat and my scarf and two pairs of gloves....lol.
We headed to Macy's first as HB has a second job at Macys and a media job in Lexington area, i looked around while HB picked up his paycheck and then we headed towards Bryant park and on the way we both got a free bottle of snapple which was great, i love free stuff.
We got to Bryant park and watched the skaters on the ice rink for a little while and then we headed over to Grand Central station, used in many films and then through to the Grand Central market and then went for a look at the sumptuous cheesecakes at the Juniors stall.
Of course all of this was done while i was being snap happy....lol, we then moved on to the UN building and it is in NYC and the US, but

View from Hoboken it acts as its own state so to speak and is not governed by US law. We then headed to grab a slice of pizza when Crystal (couchsurfer) texted to ask if we would meet for a bite to eat in a chinese eatrie on Amsterdam avenue the other side of Central park. We agreed to this and decided it would be best to go their via Central park, as i had wanted to visit central park, thus killing two birds with one stone.
Central park is massive and we passed various lakes and rocks and through tree lined paths and past an ice rink and as far as the Jackie Kennedy Onasis reservoir and that was three quarters done and me and HB were puffed out and so we decided to head out to Upper West Central Park to get the subway the rest of the way. This area overlooking the park is a very posh area and a highly sort after address and is mostly owned by Jewish New Yorkers.
We got to Amsterdam Ave and Crystal was waiting for us (I have known Crystal for months through talking to her through the Couchsurfing site) and

Manhattan in all its glory it was great seeing her in the flesh😊, she said she had a surprise for me in the eatrie and it turned out to be another CSer i know through the site, a girl called Andi and it was great to meet her in the flesh aswell😊, also the was a few other CSer's there and these were Matt and Mike and three French Csers called Francois, junior and xavier.
The meal was good and we had a good chat and a few photos and then it was time to say our goodbyes and Crystal,Andi,Matt and Mike were going to a New Years Eve party and Me,Hb and the French guys were going to watch the ball drop in Timesquare, well as close as we could get to Timesquare. The French guys needed to get changed and so we headed with them to Harlem to their hostel and it was not in the nicest of areas. But we got back on our way and were going to meet up with another CSer i know from the site called Andy and he was coming in from upstate New York.
We met with Andy and our first issue was that
Me Blocking The View
Me Blocking The View we were at 59th street and the coppers were penning off each block and so by slipping under barriers while cops were not looking and pretending to use restaurants and pizzerias through the other pens we got to 49th street and we could see the ball from there and so we eat pizza and hung around for 4 hours and i also called my parents to wish them a happy new year and its was 2am back in the UK...lol and every hour the was a countdown of last ten seconds and a big cheer and happy new year for different places like Santiago in Chile and then the time came and the atmosphere was great and better than any New year id celebrated in the UK.
We then moved on to a party a Cser Tina was having for all Cser's in NYC for NYE/NY and Andy left us to go to another party and we headed over and met loads of NYC Cser's and some from germany and brazil and so on and i met up with Erin and she is hosting me in LA and i met Leo and Carmine and Tina who i all know
NYC Post Office
NYC post office form the site and it was a great party and then eventually we got kicked out and we carried the party on the sidewalk and then we took details from the French guys and parted company and headed home and got back at 6am.
