Edit Blog Post

It's been just about a year since I began this log... I wrote on my travels with Dad Bud, Brother Daniel, and myself, Brother Chris... January is literally just hours around the corner and a new trip awaits us. Yet, on this trip we find ourselves without an amazing tour guide, without a conservative spender, without a global historian, and most of all, without a father to guide us along the way. Yes, it's true... Bud has decided to let Daniel and myself travel this time alone... Well, not quite- We have two new additions to the pack- Brother Sean, the oldest but (and this is where the benefit of this being MY blog comes into play) not the most mature... And Best Friend Katherine, my soul-mate-sista-lova-from anotha motha!

We'll be traveling to CENTRAL AMERICA, the first destination being GUATEMALA... Our first night's stay will be in the beautiful mountain town of Antigua- and from there, who knows... We may go north, we may go south, and eventually, we'll probably head east... Our destinations may include: El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, and Nicaragua... We probably won't hit all of these places as our trip is limited to just 3 weeks... But, with the words of dad coaching us along the way, and if we are able to maintain his travel ethics and do what 'he would do', we'll be able to see a whole hell of alot!

I must admit that I'm desperately nervous. Without dad? Are you serious??? Sure, we've had our fights (head-light, anyone?) but he's still an amazing man to travel with. After spending a few days with Daniel and Sean, it's become quite clear how different each of us are. I can pretty much guarantee that there will be daily arguments... But in that I can also pretty much guarantee that those 'fights' will be settled within an hour. We each have our individual traits which will help us along this journey. Daniel speaks decent spanish, I'm good with booking hostels, Sean is good at... Well, Sean is carrying the largest pack... And Katherine brings a smile to most anyone's face.

Beyond the nerves, I'm also bloody excited. We'll rock this trip, I know it, and I can't even imagine the sights I will see within these next few weeks. Ah, the people I will meet! The history I will learn!

We take off from LAX in just a few short hours! I'll continue to update as we move along... From place to place... I wish everyone reading a very happy new year and I'll see you on the other side! Of the continent, that is...

Miss ya Mom, Miss ya Dad!
