So....we are in Washington now!! We left the bustling city of Missoula this morning around 9am. We haven't seen so many cars in a long time. Last night, we got stuck in a traffic jam going to the hotel. I was a little crabby. Sorry Heidi 😊 I was really hungry, and just wanted to get out of the car. But then we got to the hotel, and things were better.

Even though we had a lot of snow today, and the roads were pretty bad, we still drove almost 400 miles. We stopped for lunch in a town called Coeur d'Alene in Idaho. There is a huge beautiful lake. We walked on a floating boardwalk where I thought I was going to fall about 100 times. It was packed with snow and ice and there were some steep ramps to go up and down. You'll know what I mean when you see the pictures! But it was very pretty. I can imagine it would also be breathtaking in the summer. They had a little area where there was an ice skating rink and you could rent ice skates. It was very cute. Heidi fed some ducks, and they ate out of her hand!!

We went through some mountain passes--Lookout Pass, 4th of July Pass, and over Ryegrass Summit. We saw our first sign for Seattle on Interstate 90. Driving through Spokane almost made me go insane. There were these ruts in the lane that made me feel like I was on railroad tracks...and the pavement was dry!! What's up with that??? Eastern Washington is somewhat strange. One minute we were going through mountains, and then the next we felt like we were back in South Dakota. It was really flat and no trees. Then, we'd be driving through a mountain pass again... We also crossed the Columbia River. I'll let Heidi explain that. I had to do some "talking down", so that she wouldn't freak out (but she still did). Then we finally came into Ellensburg, where we are spending the night. Good job driving, Heidi 😊 !!!

We are staying at the Quality Inn, which used to be called the Ellensburg Inn. David, the nice man who answered the phone gave me a discount on the room, because I "breathe oxygen"...Thanks, David!!! We are only about 100 miles away from our final destination, but it was getting dark already, and the snow was not letting up. So, hopefully, after getting a good night's sleep and being rested, the rest of the way won't be so bad...even though it's supposed to keep snowing...and we have to cross Snoqualmie Pass where we may have to use the tire chains!!! If all goes well, we will be in my apartment tomorrow... I won't have internet, so I don't know if we will be able to post anything tomorrow, but we will try...

Til then...
