Woke up early as I wanted to go to Moulay Idris and Volubilis. There are no collective taxis (i.e. a shared taxi with 7 people in it; 2 passengers in front and 4 at the back plus the driver) to Volubilis but there are to Moulay Idiris.

The place to get a grand taxi to Moulay is not from the same place as the other taxi, the place is in the Meknes new city and I was looking for it all over the place but couldn't find it. Finally I met two guys who helped me out and put me into a taxi that dropped me off near the Moulay Idiris taxi stand. I went to Moulay Idiris and then took the same taxi to Volubilis. I could have walked to Volubilis but decided to take a taxi as the guide book mentioned that there are no collective taxis from Moulay to Meknes after 3pm. So I decided I will walk one way from Volubilis to Moulay in case I ran short of time to see Volubilis. After I got to Volubilis only I saw that the former Roman ruins are really ruined and you don't need anyhthing more than 2 hours to see Volubilis. The guide book made it look like such a lot but honestly it doesn't take anything more than 2 hours to finish Volubilis. I walked back to Moulay Idiris and I had some food and decided to take a taxi back to Meknes without checking Moulay as it looked boring from where I was. The guy at the shop asked me why dont you just go and see inside Moulay now that you are already here. I am sooo glad I did, its one of the cutest towns I have been to in Morocco

I felt like staying a couple of days. I went inside a mosque and its really serene and calm. There was this guide who wanted Dhm100 to show me around, finally we agreed at Dhm20. Normally I wouldn't have used a guide but decided to because I didn’t have much time in Moulay. He also mentioned that taxis to Meknes run until 6pm. There are some beautiful vistas from the top and the panoramic views are stunning.

Afterwards I walked down and went through a market and this is the first place that I saw someone killing a chicken, removing its feathers and sellng as fresh chicken. From the cage to a plastic bag. I am soo happy I have stopped eating chicken.

I got back to Meknes and I asked a girl in the taxi (it has become quite apparet to me something I came across in Krakow, Poland as well that women speak more English than the men) to show me where to get a taxi back to the Medina. She said to come with her and then she said lets wait for her sister who is studying in the University. Her sister got there in 5 minutes and she said lets walk to the Medina. The sister spoke very good English and she was really nice. Within 15 minutes of walking we were back in the Medina and only then I realised that I had gone the wrong way earlier and that the Medina was quite closeby. Afterwards we had coffee and I said good bye to them. Got back to the hotel, checked out and took a grand taxi to Fes.

In Fes from where the grand taxi dropped me, I had to take another petit taxi to the Medina.

Fes is a really beautiful place; another place my heart went out to.....the alleys the shops everything is sooo beautiful. I stayed at hotel Cascades at Dhm80 a night. The room was a 3 bed room all for myself. I went to an internet place and after I finished when I got out this guy said to me "Do you want to see a big cock???" What do you say to an idiot like that? I walked away. There is a reason why I prefer to communicate with women in this place; at least I could say yes in case they ask me if I would like a viewing hahaha…

Fes slows down around 1030pm unlike Marrakech which is full of activity even at 1am.

I went back to the hotel after eating an onion crepe, yogurt and some fruit which looked like berries. The berries look alike were like jam fruit I have seen in Sri Lanka.

I continued reading Shadow of the Wind till 0315am, its very difficult to put that book down.
