Mom drops me off at school on the motorcycle. She gives me a twenty baht and a ten baht for me to buy my lunch.
I go into my class and put the bag on my chair…your have to your bag facing outside because it’s bad luck if you don’t. After that we go line up and sing the Kings anthem and pray to the Buddha at the school. A few other songs to but I can’t remember. Then we march out in our lines and go into our class and start our day.
Our teacher comes in and we say, “Sawadee Khun Khru”. It sounds cool when we all say it together.
The teacher gives us a math page and we do the math. I’ve got every questions right and had 20/20 on my test three times…except I keep forgetting the comma in the thousands. Then the art or science teacher comes in. The science is basically only Thai so I can’t do anything…I just listen…which is really boring.
After that we have art or English. The English teacher really likes me she even gave me a red chang purse (elephant). I really like her...she
is probably my fave teacher besides Khru Sudha. I think today we probably are going to decorate the Christmas tree. I am really excited because I know how!
Every day I wear the normal uniform a pleated skirt and a flowy shirt. And on Friday for me. Every grade has a different day for the sports uniform. We wear a sport uniform which is a yellow top with the Apsara symbol on it and the pants are just black pants which really suck in the daytime 'cause it’s so hot. And white runners. To keep the runners white we have to wash them every week and put lots of talc powder on them, event he inside and then wrap it is toilet paper. They sun dries it and they stay white.
Lunch is a break where the bell rings and all the kids go out for lunch. They march in a line and then we choose a group to go with…It’s usually my friends, I have about five…first there’s a slushy stand with usually yellow (pineapple and lemon), there’s green fanta (which sucks), and there’s white (coconut) and then there’s cocoa (which is chocolate and its not very good.) I usually get a mix which is coconut and pinapple.
Then we go to the next stand which has all snacks like bread and jam and fried beans and fried peas and popcorn and beside that stand there’s a table that has meat and stuff. I always get the meat on a stick because all the others have not good taste. And then I go to another stand which has…like…sticky rice and rice and another meal. Most of those meals have peanuts in them so I usually don’t go to that stand except to get sticky rice.
We choose a table in the shade on the side of the school and eat. After we eat we go back to the classroom or to visit Khru Sudha but she’s usually not there. We go upstairs and we always have to take off our shoes before we go up the stairs and we put them under benches outside the classroom. We have to brush our teeth at the big water jar and there are so many kids…everybody at the same time. Then we go inside the classroom and have free time for the rest of the day.
The boys, I don’t know how to talk about them, they are just so annoying. The are the most annoying thing I’ve ever met. They always huddle over me when I draw…every single boy or they are just annoying. They take my stuff, erase some of my drawings when I am not looking they usually replace the picture with a new blank paper and take the one I am not finished yet. Then they give it back after I start a new one but it comes back with a moustache.
The boys suck.
At free time we go down to the big field in the courtyard and then we play we play the coconut shell game. You walk on a coconut shell with a string attached to it or another game is huddle ball. The girls play an elastic band game where they jump and pull it down with their feet and each jump gets higher. I can’t play it and I fell on my face.
After free time, we get in the hallway and sit until the teacher comes to lead us downstairs to assembly. Then we wait for about 15 minutes and then we march out of line, but instead of going to class we go out the schoolyard between two buildings. Then we go find our parents or the song teaw bus to take you to your village and drop you off. But mom picks me up instead of going on the bus. On the motocyc and I sit sideways instead of the normal way because I have a skirt on all the older girls sit that way too and the ladies going to work. It hurts your tailbone.
Then when we come back to the village I go and get changed and get my homework and go sit with the other kids and do my homework. Then I iron my uniform and clean my shoes. And that’s all.
I really like school except for the really long wait in the morning. That’s the only thing I don’t like about school…and the boys.
Bye.
