This is it! We are in Lima to visit our friend Luis and after a few days here, we will catch our plane to Europe. Sad moments really even if we have been travelling for 6 months. It´s always too short, isn´t it?

We are spending 4 days here, spending some time with Luis, who I didn´t see for almost 4 years and what a welcome we had! We stayed away from the tourist trail, although we have obviously visited Miraflores, Barranco, Chorillos and Central Lima. Lima is charming. Before we got there, we were warned that if we didn´t like La Paz, there is little chance we would like Lima. WRONG! Lima has undergone so much work to keep it green and diverse ( unlike La paz ), lots of parks etc... as well as that, it has a beautiful coast by Miraflores, Barranco and Chorillos. It´s very well kept and very clean.
However, Lima is one notch below Buenos Aires. ( Luis is gonna hate us for saying that ). It has far too much traffic, especially public transport. 1 car in 3, is either a bus, a combi, a taxi or minitaxi. Yellers in combis and buses make such a noise when they are looking for passengers. You get hassled a lot also as you get past a restaurant, on the streets with shoeshine boys, and artesanial shops. But it´s part of the scenery and we didn´t mind too much.

Oh yes, I almost forgot! As a birthday present, Renata got me a paragliding tandem session above Miraflores! How about that! I loved it. I felt as if I was a Condor floating above Lima skyline and the beach. I was taken aback by the stunning scenery from above. Breathtaking! I was just like a little child!

On our last day, we also tasted our first Ceviche in Peru!
Luis took us to a tiny little place but with huge reputation and very cheap. It´s to die for. We took the food to his place, met his mother and niece and had a lunch together. Very humble people. Thank you Luis, we loved our time here in Lima with your company. He made sure we didn´t have any problems around town, gave us every indication, told us what precautions to take, where not to go etc...

So that´s it for South America and for these blogs. I hope you enjoyed reading them as much as we enjoyed writing them. We will treasure them in the many years to come. The text was written as we felt at that time and the experiences were very unique for us, giving us memories that will last forever.

Now it´s back to Europe, find a job and start a family in The Czech Republic.
Fresh start, new challenge. Just what we like.
Will keep you posted.
