This is my page about KnoxvilleI lived in Knoxville for about two years. I moved there because I was offered a job at the University of Tennessee which is a flagship University, the largest in the state. Knoxville is a wonderful city situated on an international waterway. It is located just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is home to the University of Tennessee Volunteer football and basketball teams.

There is lots to do in Knoxville. First and foremost, the seasons are incredible and it is a very tempered area, which means that it is never too cold in the winter and the summer, although hot, is very tolerable. The spring brings blooming at the beginning of March, just in time for the famousDog Wood Festivalwhich happens in April. I live in one of the featured Dog Wood trails. It is beautiful! In Knoxville you are only a few miles away from the Great Smoky mountains and wonderful hiking/skiing trails.

Other than the obvious nature around, Knoxville has an ever growing cultural community. Besides the Operas, recitals and shows continually going on at the University, Knoxville has a professional Opera Company, Art museums, Theater Companies, and much more.

I hope

One of my favorite things to do is to sit by the Tennessee River looking out at the water. It is actually a very lovely view. I drive by it every morning. In the evening you can sometimes watch the UT rowing team practice on the River. There is a really nice walk way and places to sit and be romantic. Beautiful place to hang out.
that this page shows a little of what Knoxville has to offer. I have had a good time here and have enjoyed a cultural difference, since I am a Canadian girl. I only wish that I had more time to enjoy the surroundings, but work comes first, I guess...a typical North-American way of thinking, unfortunately.

Enjoy my Knoxville page! :-)

See a concert, or an opera

If you visit Knoxville Opera website, you will see that there are four opera/performances in a season, and also a partnership with the University of Tennessee Opera Studio program. Always choosing accessible repertoire, the Knoxville Opera is a good place to start if you are new to the opera genre. Very casual and fun. This pic to your left is one of Opera Legend Deloris Ziegler and Soprano Linda Mabbs giving a benefit concert to support Knoxville Opera. I had the pleasure of playing the piano for this concert and working with these two wonderful ladies, it was an unforgettable moment.

Calhoun's on the River

bDefinetly one of my favorite dining spots in Knoxville! It has a great atmosphere and an awesome view of the River. It is always very busy on the weekends and on UT game days. The dress code is casual. The service is usually very good. Calhoun's on the River is close to all major downtown hotels, the University of Tennessee, Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena. Accessable by boat, Calhoun's has a dock available for parking your boat. Plenty of outdoor seating is available on open or covered decks. Calhoun's has a vast menu with something for everyone. Their chicken wings are awesome as well as the Steak Calhoun's. It is all moderately priced. Calhoun's also has a full bar where I like to have an Amaretto Soure and they have a unique beer selection. Calhoun's has custom-built steam-heated microbrewery where they handcraft specialty beers. bI-40 East - Exit 388-A follow it to Neyland Drive & the restaurant will be located on your left. Naples...a taste of Italy in Knoxville...

Here is another one of my favorite spots in Knoxville. It is an italian place called Naples. It is where I had one of my first few dates with my husband! So I guess there are memories for me there as well. The food is delicious and it is reasonable priced. The restaurant is located in west knoxville, on Kingston Pike.

The University of Tennessee is a flagship state school with a huge football team and following. Knoxville is a college town, but has the feel of a hometown.
