Hola,

Sorry it´s been a while. So we´ve been in Antigua for 2 weeks now. Today is our last day of spanish classes. It feels good to not have to wake up early anymore and be able to do what we want. The classes have been very helpful and it will be nice to have a good base of spanish for the rest of the trip, but we´ve basically crammed 2 years of spanish into 2 weeks. Basically we have a good base for everything we´ve learned, and it will be up to us to build on it. It´s been nice to have meals prepared for us 3 times a day, but the rigid schedule is growing old. It will be nice to be able to have our meals when we want. Aracely has been a great host and very helpful. It´s nice to talk spanish to her and have her help us with it. She used to be a spanish teacher. All-in-all, Antigua has been a good experience. It´s really been more of a learning experience than much of a vacation.
The other day, we climbed an active volcano. It took about an hour or hour and a half to climb. The crater was really amazing. At the top, we were above the clouds, and looking out into the horizon seemed as if we were peering over the edge of the world. We got to poke sticks into hot lava and jump around on hard lava boulders. Two stupid tourists decided they wanted to take their own route to the top and left the group. We could see them walking around the other side of the crater, but they couldn´t hear us yell. They left the group on purpose. Whether or not they meant to stay up there for the night, we don´t know. We do know that when the tour bus left AT NIGHT, they weren´t on it.
We´re meeting Lindsay, Morgan´s sister, in Costa Rica on Wednesday. Instead of spending 6 days of our trip traveling by bus and having to go to the cities the bus takes us, we rented a car. This way we don´t have to book a return flight back to Guatemala, and we can go where we want on the trip to Cost Rica. We´ll probably just hop on the Pan-American highway and drive down. Hopefully we´ll get to stop in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua for a day on the beach. Looking back, it almost seems like we should have just driven down here. Well, time to go back to class. Hope everyone is well. What´s the snow report in Tahoe?
