Wat night.
Firstly, as I can't get to a phone that gives me instructions to dial internationally in any other language than Thai, Happy Birthday Fishy!

We suffered our first set back this morning, I'm sure it was caused by last night's Chang overload. We surfaced, finally at 10.30 with banging heads to be greeted by bright sunshine and extreme heat. We realised that we'd missed breakfast and wandered out to find some.
This isn't as easy as it sounds, we're looking for coffee and pastries and all there is to be had is unidentifiable meat based stuff and floating green things. We finally stumble across the Thai version of a cafe, it's serving crispy fried pork or chicken with rice, or satay. You'd be surprised how nice satay and soup is for breakfast, especially when accompanied by Thai coffee (murky dark brown stuff with condensed milk!).
Feeling slightly better for the satay and coffee, we venture into the Old City for a wander and to confirm tomorrow's cookery course. As usual we're accosted by several 'tour guides' who we politely shake off. After covering more lanes on foot than is sensible, we hail a Tuk Tuk.
The Tuk Tuk is basically a 50cc moped with a covered bench attached. The rear wheels gave a shudder as two large farangs (foreigners) sat down in the back, we honestly didn't think it was going to move, but we pulled away slowly and remained at that velocity for our entire trip back to the hotel.
Siesta time, it's too hot to stay awake.
This evening we decide to try an Indian restaurant somewhere off the ChangKlang Road, it's higly recommended. After wandering up and down for the better part of 45 minutes, we stumble upon Anusarn Market having given up looking for the non-existent Indian.
Anusarn is a gem of a find. It has loads of restaurants/food stalls which seem to merge into each other. You can get just about everything here. We opt for the Seafood place.
Huge steaming bowls of Tom Yam (fish soup) arrive, accompanied by deep fried prawns and fried noodles. Too much for us (again) and I make Kev promise to keep me to one dish at a time in future.
We take a leisurely stroll back to our local bar, the waitress greets us with 'more Chang!' we decline politely and tell her that we have cooking lessons in the morning, she nods knowingly as we order two cokes!

Koh Samed
Thailand and Cambodia last year, heading again in 06. From Pattaya, take the boat to Koh Samed island. Wonderful small atmoshere.......Miss the place SOO much. Seattle is nice, but can't wait to return. If you have a chance, head to Cambodia for a couple days to visit the jungle temples and Angkor Wat. Amazing lifetime adventure there!!! Have fun in the land of smiles. I'm w/ you in Spirit! I wanna go back!
