Thanksgiving in England. We started discussing this on the coach ride to Bath approximately two weeks before Thanksgiving. A little late to start maybe but then we work well under pressure. We wrote out a guess list that included speakers and friends of the program and then began to discuss whether we could or wanted to bring friends or not. The major stuff - finding out if we could use the church hall and what had been done in previous years - we left up to Storm. For the time being, we left the plans alone because we were on a coach and couldn't do much else.
At dinner last Tuesday, things started to come together. Siri - the president of the flat - ran the meeting and we solidified our guest list, deciding that friends were a yes, and then started discussing food and who was to prepare what. Erin Bailey volunteered to do the Turkey with Abbi's help since none of us had never done a turkey before. Carrie and I are making the pies. We figure that we will have about 30 people at the meal.
Yesterday, we figured out when people can use the ovens and made sure that we had enough pans and pots and pie tins to make all of the food. Then we compiled everyone's shopping lists so that I could go shopping with Storm today.
Shopping went pretty smoothly, and we only forgot one item. The Sainsbury's wasn't too hard to navigate even though it was set up quite differently from the stores that I am used to. The hardest part about shopping is finding items that don't translate or just do not exist over here. Like corn syrup. And some of the stuff is just in weird places - like the sugar and flour aren't in the same aisle and things like that. The baking starts tomorrow.

Food
The best of luck in the kitchen to all of the cooks and bakers! There will be about ten less people at our dinner and I only have to make one pie!
