Hi all,

"Boom Boom Musicland"

This blog includes a plethora of events and news....the first being my new job as an actress on a new children's TV show for a large Korean broadcasting company, EBS. The show is called "Boom Boom Musicland," and I play a character named "Jeannie". I am one of two "foreign" characters on the show, the third character being an adorable 10 year old girl from Korea named "Pinky." And finally, my co-worker Brad is the other foreign actor....he is from Canada and plays a character named "DJ Boom Boom"...although he looks like more of mix between Robin Hood and an elf, than he does a DJ! I can't really talk though...my costume has changed multiple times....everything from trendy Korean clothes, to a similar lighter green elf-like costume, to a pink dress. Sometimes, for special episodes we have to dress up like other things though too....in some of the pictures featured below you can see Brad as Mozart and a bum, and me as "a movie star"...although I personally think I look more like Belle from "Beauty & the Beast!"

As far as the show goes, it's cheesy....but it's main goal is to teach young children in Korea English, and so I think it serves its purpose well. In every episode there is a chant, a song and dance, and of course a lesson to be learned. We were under contract to shoot 40 episodes of the show, and we JUST finished shooting the last few shows yesterday!

I have really enjoyed filming this show, mostly for all the fun we all had together on the set. Brad is quite a character in real-life and always found ways to keep us laughing throughout the long days....whether he was jumping up and down showing us his underwear underneath his "elf dress," or going in the corner to fart and then yelling out "elf business!" Haha! But of course, it's also been really great to be performing on some level again as well! I will not forget this amazing experience I had. If anyone is interested in seeing any of the shows, you can just let me know...there is a website in Korean that I can try to navigate you through to see an episode or two if you have the patience!

English Village Summer Garden Party

The next set of photos is from our 2nd English Village Summer Garden Party! We had our first in May, but it had rained the entire day and so it was more of a "mud party" than a garden party. But, this time we had wonderful weather and a good time was had by all! The president of EV claimed that this party was thrown for all to thank us for our hard work during the 2 Two Week Programs we had had (mentioned in our last blog). Not only was there delicious food, but also fun games (some even Korean!), and of course, great company!

Lake Park

The final group of pictures is from Lake Park in Ilsan, a small but very happening city only about 20 minutes away from Paju. Lake Park was a nice little area situated around a rather large and scenic pond in the middle of Ilsan. It was definitely a nice, relaxing place to go to get out of the hustle and bustle for a little while and enjoy the nature. Once there, we rented bicycles and rode around the park. I wanted to get an embarrassing "2-seater" bike for couples (or just really lame people I guess), but they were all sold out at the moment - so Larry caught a lucky break. We had to settle for the single ones instead. Anyway, we also visited the "Toilet Museum" that was in this park....not very big, but incredibly entertaining....as well as a cactus greenhouse. Again, a really nice day, and a well-deserved break from the crazy kids we teach every week! 😊

Thanks for reading....

Love,
Larry and Melanie
