On Monday, October 29th (shortly after visiting the Canadian Embassy in Santiago to pick up Chloe´s new bank card) we took a six hour bus ride to Mendoza, Argentina.

Mendoza is in Argentina´s wine district. To get there we crossed the Andes and saw numerous chair lifts for ski resorts. In this part of the Andes it´s very dry and there are no trees. There´s no snow right now to ski on so the resorts looked like sandpiles and rocks. It made me feel very fortunate to have such awesome ski scenery in Canada.

We met Katie (UVic friend) and Carter (Katie´s boyfriend from Whistler) at the bus terminal and they took us to the hostal to drop our bags off. Katie and Carter just arrived in Argentina a week ago, and are traveling North through Uruguay and Brazil until mid-december. It was awesome that they came down to Mendoza to meet us, as Chloe and I plan to head south and we may not cross paths with them later on this trip.

The four of us did a bunch of things.
1. We went on a bike and wine tour of the wineries, a chocolate place, and

an olive oil place.
2. Went out for steak at this highly recommended place called Don Marios. The steaks were ENORMOUS. I ordered a salad, HOWEVER, I did try some of Chloe´s steak and it was the best steak I´ve ever had (although the last time I ate steak was like 9 years ago). Anyway, it´s true what they say about steak from Argentina.
3. Went out for pasta

Katie and Carter left for Buenos Aires on Halloween and we dressed up as Pringles Cans and met up with some English girls at their hostal in the central part of the city.

We are now heading to Bariloche and are taking a 19hour overnight bus there. We are still hoping to head really far south in Argentina.

Hope everyone is well.

Jordan and Chloe
