COLD FRONT!

I AM FREEZING!!!!

Someone just told me the temperature here is 63 degrees. It feels like it's 40! (So much for that Michigan blood! I'm going to be an ice-cube my first winter back in the States!)

So a cold front is coming through and I think it's the coldest it's been in the 9 months I've been here. (WHOO-HOO! Side Note: I celebrated my 9 month Honduran Anniversary on October 23rd...that's the half-way point of my year and a half "commitment"....but that still doesn't say when I'm coming home.) 😊

I'm bundled up with sweatshirts and my muscles are sore from shivering all day long! This morning it was SO hard to leave my warm, comfortable bed. A hot shower never sounded so good!

OK, before you call me a wimp (...alright, you can still call me a wimp because I know I am one...), 63 degrees in Honduras is a lot different than in the states. We've got no heat, no sealed off windows, no insulation, a tin roof...I have two windows in my bedroom that just have screens on them, and then our house is open to the outdoors. So whatever it's like outside is exactly what it's like inside...and to me that is COLD!

On the upside, it is FANTASTIC to have a change in weather...other than just changing from "Hot and Dry" to "Hot and Wet". It's been a bit like October back home, except everything is still GREEN here. We'll see how long our Autumn-like spell lasts.

I have lots of things to share, pictures to show, etc. but time is sometimes limited. So hopefully I can get some more things on here in the coming week. Also, I'm working on a newsletter for November. If you'd like to get one and you're not on my mailing list, let me know your address either by a comment here or an e-mail to rilla98@juno.com. (As a bonus, the newsletter comes with a little something from Honduras!) 😊

So good to read your updates and stay in touch with what's going on in Copan. Please give my love to Aura and Nahun's family and anyone else you see that I might possibly know. I hope to return in February.

Rilla hy, my name is Ed and I want to tell you that your work down there is very commendable. I admire you for your dedication with those children that need people like you to give them hope for a better future. I am planning to move to Copan Ruins by the next year and I have a son--8-year-old son that I will enroll in Mayatan. I will request from you some information. My son doesn't speak any Spanish at all, although I am Hispanic but in home we never spoke any Spanish. Do you think that he will be able to handle third grade without knowing any Spanish? I would appreciate if you give some ideas and more information about Mayatan school. Thank you Ed from Miami, Fla
