Nottinghill Carnival
Heyyyyy Reggae-man Karlito So after a great concert and farewell Guiness at the Temple Bar in Dublin, Karl and I head out early the next morning for London. We arrive, it is raining and we walk to our hotel in the rain. Our backpacks have been amazingly resilient and we highly recommend Eagle Creek! Karl balked at the price, but is eating crow now.
While in London we did the usual touristy things. We took the double decker bus tour and saw Big Ben, The House of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, and on and on. For a special treat that night, we went to see a play at Shakespears Globe Theatre. It was just as I imagined and it will be fun to share with students that we were there. Amazing. Westminster Abbey was my favorite because of the Poets Corner. All the famous English poets are buried there.
On our last day in London we went to the Nottinghill Carnaval. What a trip that was! It should have been called the Jamaican festival because there were Jamaican Flags Everywhere, Amazingly tasty Jamaican food, Red Stripe abound, Jamaican Music and a curious smell in the air.
