The past two days have been spent just wandering around and doing some shopping, but generally just taking in the sights, sounds and smells of what is unique to Bangkok. The air is filled with the smell of fumes from the heavy traffic and many types of food being either boiled or barbecued on the street. There is the sound of constant traffic, whistle blowing from the traffic police, and people chattering away. It really is amazing as you very rarely hear a nasty tone , and given the number of people in this city it is unusual.
I've eaten at Big Jim's most nights, Saturday night was omelette Fried Rice with Chicken and a large Singha beer for 260 bht . Last night , Sunday, I had Pork Pad Thai with large Singha and it only cost 180 Bht. It's so cheap to eat and drink here. But it's been so hot that I've been hanging out for a beer most nights. I reckon if I lived here I could become dependant on it !!
I've also eaten food from the street sellers. Yesterday afternoon I had 2 chicken and 1 pork satay sticks, another thing on a stick that I think was pork mince mixed with spices and shaped into a sausage. All of this only cost 35 bht !!
I have indulged in a foot massage the past two nights, a whole hour of pure heaven for only 140 bht. I have given the girls 200 bht each session because I can't imagine having to work for about $4 an hour !! I will indulge at the same place again tonight 😊 😊
Tomorrow I head off to Hong Kong and am really looking forward to it. I'll be back in Bangkok on Friday, and will spend more time around the river area to get another perspective on life here.
Miss you all
