Hola, day 4. We have been enjoying the food, wine and sun of the South of Spain, and finding the tourists both amusing and aggravating (yes we are tourists as well but hardly consider ourselves as such, and certainly not in the same category as the Americans) We were both amused and disturbed by an American woman we overheard the other day asking a señor on the street (in loud English, naturally, so he´d understand...) "Can you tell me where to find McDonald´s?" Yes, they do exist.

Last night we enjoyed the atmosphere of yet another tapas bar and then went onto the Moorish area where there are little windy streets full of trinket shops and tea houses. We found one with intricately patterned walls and low tables for sampling various exotic teas and the "sheesha" - the big long pipes through which you can ingest various flavours of tabacco (looks like a posh bong basically) The tobacco itself though is very mild. We tried the tropical fruit tobacco and some peppermint tea.

Today we are heading to the Alhumbra palace, possibly the thing which Granada is most known for. We got up early especially for it, and went to collect our pre-paid tickets, only to find out we have an allocated time when we are allowed in - not until 2pm, so John has gone for a snooze and I to wander around for a while....
