Well I say a bike, I mean a bloody great hill. Managed to get to Corcovaro easily enough in a cab, even if the engine did cut out at least 5 times on the 15 minute journey. At one point I thought I´d have to get out and push.

To get to the top (which is where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is) I had to take the cog railway, which is like a monorail but not as cool. On the way there were models of various saints and biblical characters, plus a smug looking cat and a pig covered in sticks, like a porcupine. I was never great at RE, so don´t know if these animals were in the bible or not.

We also passed through the banana park, so I was hoping for some full on monkey action, but sadly not. There weren´t even any bananas, so I may contact the OFT.

The view from the top was amazing, but again I can´t post the photos, so use your imaginations. The only downside was I got stung by some kind of insect. But I was a big boy and hardly cried at all.

Then got a cab back (suspiciously costing twice what my cab there cost) and spent the afternoon on the beach talking to some Brazilian guy who wouldn´t shut up about what a beautiful language English is. And how there is no nutritional value in fast food, apropos nothing whatsoever. Still, was nice to have a conversation more than 3 words in length.

I´m off to pack now, ready to meet my new chums tomorrow. Not sure when I´ll be online next, but keep em peeled...

If anything you'd think a cab would be cheeper going down hill as I expect it was.
