Left bags at the hotel as it was time to check out and went to see if we could book a night train to bangkok, we could! wahoo! booked a nice private cabin for the 2 of us, so that was great. Decided to just take it easy and relax before our long journey over to laos. Marc was going to stay in the mall and i was going to go and visit Jim Thompsons house, but i started playing a game called jewel master at one of the giant game halls, and i finished it! level 21 and the top score! hahahhaha it was so awesome! We did have some passport pictures done for our visas, but i somehow managed to lose mine so had to back to the booth to get some more done, there is so much cute stuff here, i cant wait to go to japan, i bet theres 10x times more of it!
Made our way to the train station, they have quite a lot of security checks at the entrances to subway..etc and made us open our gigantic back packs which kind of annoyed me, but they did it nyway and then we were on our way to Hualmapong station. We boarded the night train with ease after stocking up on water supplies and tried to have a nice sleep, which ws very difficult considering the noise and movement of the train.

Hey Erika, I would definately recommend train travel in Thailand, its superb! A private cabin was about £17 per person, but for a 12 hour night journey, I think its totally worth it. Second Class is generally about the half the price of first, with air-con. Third class is dirt cheap but no air-con, I travelled to Ayuttahaya 3rd class as its the only class you can get, it was ok, very hot at about mid-day, as it always stops, but when we travelled back at night, it was lovely and cool! So in summary, train travel in thailand is awesome!
