RomeRomeRome

This is my favourite building in Rome. Not sure what it is called (anyone know?) but it is amazing. Had scaffolding on it this time which was a bummer but still gorgeous.
Back to the beautiful city of Rome. Had actually been here before but didn't feel like I had nearly enough time so decided to come back with nothing on the agenda and just hang out here (eating pasta & gelati of course). It was pretty great.

So I arrived and checked into my hostel. I am staying really close to Termini station at a hostel which is pretty nice so happy about that. Me and one of my room mates (in a 4 bed dorm) Tara who is from Canada did a hop-on, hop-off city sightseeing bus which pretty much takes you around all the famous sights which was a much easier way of doing it rather than walking. We went and visited the Colosseum, Basilica, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Republicca .... ok we saw an awful lot then.

Rome city isn't really all that big I suppose since it was done so long ago so they don't have all that much space but you can pretty much walk from one end to the other in a couple of hours so getting around was pretty easy. First couple of days there I went hard out on the sightseeing and

Another pic cos I think it is pretty so there ....
then I was feeling pretty tired so just sort of picked one thing each day and went there and then took it easy. I was feeling a bit bad about not doing something every minute of the day but then another roommate Abby was saying "yes but at least we are doing nothing in Rome" which i decided made perfect sense so didn't stress too much about it.

I learned some italian too because this little "trattoria" we went to the lady didn't speak any english so it was good fun but insalate mista is mixed salad (just in case you were wondering) and funghi is mushrooms and i think that was about all i learned but hey it was pretty good. Oh in case you were wondering coca cola is coca cola so really i got on quite well overall *grin*

Hmmm i don't know quite what else to write, visiting all the places is kind of confusing to list - i kept a copy of the rome map so i'll show ya when i get back other than that it was a really nice week. My room mates were heaps of fun so we went out

The Colosseum is really huge (colossus you could even say *gin*). Went for a wander inside and took lots of pics of course.
a few times and had dinner and stuff together which was good. Oh speaking of which we met this girl (she only stayed one night) but she was absolutely insane because she went to Spain and then Italy and was absolutely disgusted that no one spoke english and the signs etc were not in english. She thought it was extremely poor customer service ... mwahahaha i had a good laugh at her and tried to explain that not everyone speaks english and she said western countries are supposed to ... omg who knew there really were such people in the world *grin*

Anyways rome was lovely, it is just such a cute city to wander the streets and hang out which is really what i did a lot of (and eating of course - couldn't stay too long or you'd explode!) ohhh speaking of food the pizza in italy is gross! I kid you not they don't put tomato sauce on all the pizzas nor cheese so i got a mushroom pizza one night which was literally mushroom on bread - so weird. apparently pizza is not really from italy but is from new york so i'll try it
